Man-Wolf! Electric Eel Electro! We have a howling good time with an episode that gives us lots of fun werewolf shenanigans, along with an awesome Naoko and one of the best Counter-Earth villains so far. Counter-Earth’s version of Kraven the Hunter enters, and he’s…kind of bland. We dig into the underlying themes of class struggle and the complicated human-bestial dynamic that this episode presents...until it botches those themes and moves on to something way less interesting. Oh well, at least we get some really lovely and strange bestial designs!

Spidey makes a cool new robot friend! Spider-Man Unlimited goes deep into classic sci-fi storytelling, as recently-sentient machine man X-51 learns individuality, the value of humanity, and questions the meaning of life. It’s quite a lot for a kids’ superhero show! Unfortunately, the warring factions of Counter-Earth want X-51 for themselves, while we just think he’s a big sweetie.

Cool-bandage-dude is in the spotlight! We learn the tragic backstory of Git Hoskins, a character with bizarre hair but an incredibly creative superpower. Cool! We also learn that he stole a deadly virus (!!) that is apparently also a neutron bomb (!!!). Not cool! As the beastials and humans are forced to work together, we get an almost-great episode exploring the parallels between these two parties -- and we really wish it was better.

Creepy sentient sewer slime, alien bug parasites, an ancient hive mind…none of that really matters, because Counter-Earth Green Goblin is here, and he RULES! Spider-Man Unlimited plunges deep into sci-fi horror with a confusing story about Venom and Carnage, but all can be forgiven because we get to see Goblin in his pumpkin bomb boxers.
