In our world today, we hear and read opinion after opinion. It becomes very noisy and confusing. It is often difficult to know what the truth is. Paul gives us a great example of how to handle awkward conversations and telling the truth.

Fathers are the spiritual leaders of the family and that leadership is dependent on the willingness to practice humility. What does it look like to practice humility and show value to others?

Anybody have any issues with self-control? If you do, raise your hand! Some of you struggled not to raise your hand just because someone suggested it...maybe we all struggle with self-control a little bit!

Maybe you sang this old song in Sunday School as a kid..."I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart, down in my heart, down in my heart to stay." It's a neat sentiment, but how do I get the joy down in my heart, especially to stay? And what is joy, anyway?

We've all seen the bumper stickers about "random acts of kindness" and it really is cool to see and experience the difference these simple acts can make. Kindness, though, is more than random acts. Being kind means doing the right things in our relationships consistently.

Hope is a difficult concept for us to grasp. The New Testament is filled with hope. In fact, the word shows up at least 60 different times! It is clear that believers are to be a people filled with hope. And yet we struggle with the idea, perhaps because we tend to equate hope with wishful thinking.

God is faithful. He always keeps His word. One of the most cherished and maybe one of the most scarce traits in our culture is faithfulness. When we exercise this trait in our lives we will stand out for God to others.

For most of us, when we think of love and people who have loved us, our mom is one of the first people to come to mind. Why shouldn’t we think of moms when we think of love. Mostly moms are willing to sacrifice and serve in ways others won’t because of their love for their children. They exemplify God’s love for us.

The resurrection changes everything. It opens our eyes to who Jesus is. It opens our mind to what faith is. It opens our lives to our purpose!

Have you found yourself scrolling through social media or listening to the news and wondering, is that really true? There is so much information available that I’m not sure who to believe and quite frankly my default conclusion is to doubt everything. There is an old song that says “our hope is built on nothing less than Christ’s blood and righteousness.” This old hymn is all about how we can trust in Jesus

and Jesus alone.
