Paul and Barnabas were sent out on what we call Paul’s first missionary journey in Acts 13 & 14. It was a journey filled with ups and downs, excitement, boredom, good fortune and some bad. In a lot of ways it is a reflection of our own life’s journey. What made the trip worth it for Paul and Barnabas? The same thing that makes this life’s journey worth it for us, the chance for others to know Jesus!

Joe, He-Man, Star Wars and Transformers! Cars that became robots - but not just robots - robot heroes that protected the universe! When we talk about transformation at WCC we talk about being transformed for a purpose!

Yanny vs Laurel - - this was really, really weird - and while there is a little bit of science to explain the phenomena it was amazing how people became so personally offended when someone heard something different - it was even more interesting to me when you answered on the “wrong” side of the debate and someone pulled up the recording on their phone and said, no really listen? they were convinced that they could change your mind! There are just somethings that we can’t do for, even the most important people in our lives, no matter how much we want it and no matter how much we care for people. One of those things is believe or trust Jesus for others - even our kids.

One of the biggest struggles in our culture today is with identity. We struggle mightily to understand what makes us who we are. We misidentify the most important elements that make up our identity. For some of us that means identifying with our jobs too much, or our political beliefs too much, or our sexuality too much or even with our kids too much. Romans 8:12-17 helps us understand our true identity.

Sometimes a mother’s timing is a little different than everyone else’s timing. Have you ever eaten dinner with a mom of toddlers - - probably not, even if you sat down together because moms are busy handling the needs of others. Mary wasn’t so much different from other moms. She had her own ideas about when Jesus would get started or begin His ministry.
