When John Furner first talked with Mayor Frank Scott, Jr., a few months ago, he shared a quote that really made an impact on him. “Never let nostalgia become the enemy of vision.” Change is constant - and it’s something we’ve all felt in many ways over the last year and a half. In order to continue innovating and moving forward, we have to be ready and willing to unite, grow and transform. Mayor Scott is the first Black mayor elected by popular vote in Little Rock, Arkansas, and he often talks about the importance of transformation to achieve our best selves. It’s National Hip-Hop Appreciation Day, and Antonio celebrated by jumping on Instagram Stories to show off his hip-hop attire. Hop on before it’s too late to see today’s look. Something else we can all appreciate: cool school supplies. From Lisa Frank backpacks to the infamous Trapper Keeper, Antonio went retro as he shared the latest trends that have resurfaced from back in his day. Today is National Polka Day, and Antonio and Josh shared a laugh remembering John Candy as the ‘Polka King of the Midwest’ in “Home Alone.” It felt like Christmas morning for our Associate Caller of the Day, Dawn, who called in from Store 2191 in Houghton, Michigan. We’re feeling jolly with our Social Media Highlight of the Day, which included a post from Store 2814 in Hialeah, Florida, wishing Customer Host José, a happy 21st anniversary with Walmart. Additional highlights included a call from Christopher at Store 1676 in Tell City, Indiana, who gave a shoutout to the entire store. Team leads and associates received a shoutout from Cody at Store 924 in Sterling, Colorado. In Rapid Questions, Antonio and Josh had encouraging words for their younger selves. Bo kicked off this Friday with a fun Impossible Question for the weekend: “57% of us have not changed or updated this in over three years.” Air filters, passwords, email addresses, home addresses and phone numbers were trending answers, but it was Shawn, a customer from Bloomington, Indiana, who called in with the correct answer: our outgoing voicemail messages. Lori from Store 5083 in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, didn’t have to leave us a voicemail because she was Associate Caller of the Day. Lori is enjoying an “Apparel Party” with the apparel team at her store. On Milestone Minute, associates Sherry from Store 1108 in Oak Grove, Louisiana, and Rebecca from Store 1797 in Thomaston, Maine, both celebrated 25 years with the company. Congratulations, you two! Bonnie from Store 61 in Warrensburg, Missouri, closed the celebration with 40 years at Walmart. What an accomplishment! The stars were in the building today as television actress Brec Bassinger dropped in to talk with Bo about her show “Stargirl.” Can you guess a song in 5 seconds or less? Mike, a customer from Madera, California, was able to pick out three popular songs after hearing less than 5 seconds of audio. Wow! It’s National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day! Let’s start with some fun facts for you to chew on. The first chocolate chip cookie was the size of a quarter, while the world’s biggest chocolate chip had a diameter of 101 feet. A cookie that big would definitely “bake” our day. Our Associate Caller of the Day was Dominic from Store 3790 in Lockport, Illinois. He called to give a shoutout to Antonio and every hardworking associate at Walmart. Antonio received more love from Natalie and Sadie at Store 387 in Chandler, Oklahoma, as they made sure to let Antonio know his work doesn’t go unnoticed. In This or That, Antonio and Josh discussed whether they were visual learners or auditory learners. One thing we heard loud and clear was a call from William at Store 2810 in Spencer, West Virginia, who gave a shoutout to all of Walmart! Our Social Media Highlight of the Day included a post from Club 6512 in Clarksville, Tennessee, celebrating a great night of team building. And you know they’re on a roll because when it came down to Skip It or Scan It, the song cruised easily into the Scan It category.
