After nearly four years and 64 sermons through the book of Genesis, we arrive at the final chapters of Scripture’s first book. Genesis 45–50 brings Joseph’s story to its conclusion and ties together the major themes that have run throughout Genesis from the very beginning: God’s promises, God’s blessing, God’s providence, and the faith of His people.

Joseph’s suffering preserved many lives, but Jesus’ suffering secured salvation for the world. What people intended for evil, God used for ultimate good.

As Genesis closes, God’s people still wait for the full fulfillment of His promises. Their story ends with faith—and ours does too—as we await the return of Christ.
