If you have been shooting for any length of time, or if you have listened to our podcast for any length of time, then you know who Col. Jeff Cooper is. Born in 1920, he fought in the Pacific in World War II and in Korea before retiring as a lieutenant colonel. Cooper went on to earn his master's degree and taught high school and college classes before he opened American Pistol Institute (API), which is now known as Gunsite, one of the nation's top training destinations for civilian shooters, law enforcement, and military professionals. Cooper not only changed how shooters used their firearms but more importantly, he taught us that the mental preparedness is just as, if not more important than technical skill – which is the foundation of what we built this show on.
