This film reflects on the history of horses in battle from 3000BC to the present day, including their role in the French Revolution and notably World War I, the setting for War Horse.

This timeline follows the role of horses in the First World War from August 1914 until November 1918.

This is a lesson plan that offers ideas for teaching the First World War. There are the lesson on key events, the use of horses and how the world of 1914 differs from the world of today.
