Scorpions Wrestling was founded in 1974 by three brothers from Paterson, NJ; Julio, Jamie and Carlos Rodriguez. An affiliate of USA Wrestling, our National Governing Body, Scorpions Wrestling School provides athletic training in the sport of wrestling, in the state of New Jersey and works to build interest and grow the sport of wrestling.  

VISION Scorpions Wrestling School aims to have its athletes be competitive on a state and national level and ultimately, compete on the World and Olympic stage.  

MISSION Scorpions Wrestling School, an affiliate of USA Wrestling and driven by World and Olympic dreams, provides wrestlers of all ages and genders the opportunities to reach their highest potential in life and wrestling.

Began wrestling when I was sophomore in HS to stay in shape for my main sports XC and Track. Three sport athlete my first year of college at University of Massachusetts Lowell but dropped wrestling to focus full time on XC, indoor and outdoor track. Coincidentally wrestling program at UMass was cut in 1998 and qualified for the indoor NCAA Nationals with 1:52 half mile.

Semi professional in track after college for about 5 years, sponsored by Reebok and Powerbar before getting back into wrestling in Boston after a 10 year lay off and seeing a wrestling video on YouTube of Cary Kolat.

Moved to Maryland (personal) and coincidentally Kolat was there and the rest is sort of history.

-trained with Kolat and helped him coach his kids club 2005-2012

-competed Senior Level at 60kg 2005-2009

-took over Kolat club when he took UNC job 2009-2012

-Chairman of Maryland USA Wrestling 2012-2017

-Founded JO Wrestling 2018

-Became Programming Director of BTS DC 2018

-Partnered with Cliff Keen Athletic 2019

-2020 left the corporate world 2 months before COVID to focus on wrestling and my real estate business
