Our text says that in marriage the husband is the head of his wife, even as Christ is the head of the church. How wonderful it is that the husband's headship would be likened to the profundity of Christ's headship over the Church-----Yet in no way does this make the nature of the wife inferior to the husband, nor give the husband license to be a tyrant over his wife. The headship of the husband is not intended to be played like a trump card to win an argument with his wife-----Come and listen to how this passage of Scripture teaches us that the husband's headship should not be self-centered, but instead, it must be characterized by love, even as Christ loves his bride.
