Paul Lipparelli is going to make us an offer we can’t refuse. Well…he’s going to share with us a story we can’t refuse. If you don’t know Paul, he is a local Washoe County resident and former Assistant DA, who at the age 11 was in the iconic movie, The Godfather Part II.  

Paul will share his experience singing in the all-boys choir featured in the Lake Tahoe scene. In addition, he will provide tales from behind the scenes of the only motion picture sequel to win an Oscar for Best Picture.  You’ll come away believing to “keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.” 

This double feature show concludes with Robin Holabird, former Deputy Director of the Nevada Film Office.  Robin describes how working with the film industry has brought about filming in our region and produced movies such as The Godfather Part II, Sister Act, Top Gun, The Misfits, The Cooler and many more.  You’ll learn that Hollywood does recognize the beauty and attractiveness of Nevada.   

Jeff Martinez is a familiar face – and voice – to residents of Washoe County as morning meteorologist on KTVN 2News. He also shares his love of hiking and exploring with his cohost Michelle Garthe on their YouTube channel “Get Your Hike On with Jeff and Michelle.” They share their favorite hikes in our area and some tips for enjoying the beauty of Washoe County safely.

Tammy tells us the tales of Eilley's life and legacy in this episode’s tribute to Women’s History Month.  

Sparks resident Kerri Countess never wanted to be a part of this club: the club of parents who have lost a child to suicide. Her world was shattered in 2019 when her 14-year-old son Caleb took his own life. She now works to start the tough conversations about suicide with teens and be #suicidefreeby2023.

Black Springs is a community in unincorporated Washoe County that overcame hardship and discrimination beginning when it was established in the 1950s. Demetrice Dalton with Our Story Inc. talks about her organization’s effort to commemorate the history of Black Springs with a soon-to-be-opened museum housed in the community’s old fire station, and Helen Townsell-Parker shares her memories of growing up in Black Springs.  

Black History Month is a special time of year to celebrate achievements, according to Washoe County Manager Eric Brown. Brown joins us on this episode to talk about his own experiences with discrimination and diversity, and why developing a culture of inclusion at Washoe County is important to him.  

Things go bump in the night at the Historic Washoe County Courthouse, and Ted Moore from TV’s “Paranormal NV” joins us to talk about an episode recently taped there, and what we can learn about history while searching for spirits.
