02-27-18 - Romans, Chapter 7 deals with the freedom of the law.  Chapter 6 dealt with freedom from sin.  This chapter teaches that deliverance from sin is not enough, but that we also need to know deliverance from the law.  Paul asserts that faith into Messiah and His Holy Spirit is all that is needed to please God irrespective of the Judaizers argument of continued submission and bondage to the law.

Galatians 5: 16-25: “”But if you are led of the Spirit, you are not under the law.  Now the works of the flesh are manifest which are these: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings and such like…” 

Let’s recap our spiritual journey through Romans.

We settled by Faith our forgiveness of sin with the blood, justification by faith, our resulting peace with God. In chapter five Paul dealt with our root trouble of being a sinner.  In chapter Six he clearly revealed our deliverance from sin by the same Faith.

Idol #32 – Forgive us Lord for being puffed up with pride in our human intellect in our philosophies and science. Forgive us as we reason within our head how you are wrong. We try to reason why your plan is not feasable, thus we do not trust you. Forgive us for thinking of ourselves too highly. forgive us for seeking after so much knowledge in vanity when we need to seek after the Creator’s wisdom for all things. Forgive us for putting KNOWLEDGE above you. Forgive us for believing science and their answers to society and the universe over you and your word. Forgive us for not seeing how big, beautiful, and vast that you are. Forgive us for making this idol above your majesty.

Idol #31 – Lord forgive us for programming you to death. We literally schedule the HOLY Ghost right out of the church. Lord forgive us for not allowing you to do what YOU want to do in the services. You know the hearts of who is in that building and the ones who may be watching online. Forgive us Lord for using the arm of the flesh to design SUCCESS. When your word tells us that WHEN WE LIFT UP JESUS, YOU WILL DRAW ALL MEN UNTO YOU.

Forgive us Lord for micro-managing the members of the church by keeping them drained down in events at the church, etc. Forgive us Lord for trusting in our man-made plans over YOUR plans. Help us to trust in YOU to move.

Also Lord in our personal lives, forgive us for trying to “figure you out” and make our own plans without trusting in you to do it your way. We do the same thing as churches. We try to micro-manage you in our own lives. Help us to let go and seek YOU for our itinerary!

James 4:13-15

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.”

Idol #30 – Lord forgive us for putting our leaders up on a pedestal where only YOU should be. Forgive us for not seeking God ourselves alongside them so that we always know the truth and our leaders CONFIRM what YOU speak through us. Help us to have ears to hear you and eyes to see. We recognize the great falling away is happening before our eyes and we must keep our eyes upon you and not idolize people. If we don’t, and they fall, it may harm many. Our focus should be on Jesus Christ.

Forgive us for supporting celebrity pastors who preach falsely and lead people in grave error. This is a stench in your nostrils God. We have flaunted them on national television cheating on their wives, having sex outside of marriage, greed, covetousness, etc. God forgive us.

God forgive us for the mess we’ve made in this nation of celebrity preachers who preach that evil is good. Judgment is coming to the House of the Lord mainly because of this debauchery. God forgive us.

Idol #29 – Lord we repent for being SO FOCUSED on the numbers in our congregation, groups, meetings, organizations, who’s watching on Facebook and social media, how many LIKE’s and FOLLOW’s we have, etc. Forgive us for TRUSTING OUR EYES instead of the assignment! Forgive us for comparing ourselves to other people and thus not appreciating the AMOUNT THAT YOU PLACED IN FRONT OF OUR EYES. Forgive us for being disappointed when it’s only a few or a few hundred, etc. Help us Lord to have appreciative hearts when it comes to ANY ASSIGNMENT YOU GIVE US! Help us to obey you mainly for the AUDIENCE OF ONE. We love you Lord and know that YOU ARE THE ONE WHO WILL PAY THE BILL.

Forgive us for not trusting you to provide thus we do and partner with ungodly associations to build our own kingdom and leave your heart, your calling, your will and your guidelines. We are so worried about how OUR REPUTATION will look when we KNOW that it’s not about us! It’s about you and your calling. Forgive us for not trusting you to provide for our ministries and callings.

Idol #28 – Lord we repent for leaning upon drugs to heal our broken hearts and ailment FIRST before we seek your face about it. Forgive us for leaving our first love. Forgive us for trusting in man-made products before we even seek you for help and relief. We lean upon the drugs because our hearts are hurting and we want to COAT or HIDE our pain. This has become an idol to us Lord and this is atEPIDEMIC LEVELS in our country. God please forgive us for finding satisfaction and relief in medicine and drugs.

Lord, forgive the church for not loving our neighbors and being involved in their lives s loving thy neighbors. Help us Lord to take care of our communities again and go OUT in the Great Commission.

Lord, forgive us for smuggling drugs in this country. Forgive us for destroying families with this activity. Forgive us for all the suicides and deaths that have taken place through this tragic epidemic. Forgive our doctors who see people getting addicted to certain prescription drugs and they still prescribe them due to the kickback they get on these drugs. Forgive us for this corruption in our country.

Heal us Lord and help us to lean upon you as our first love and not drugs.

Rev. Billy Graham was a righteous man.  The Lord revealed him through awesome deeds of righteousness (Psa. 65: 4-5).   Through the gift of righteousness given to him by the Lord Jesus Christ; he received and operated supernaturally in two giftings direct from Jesus:  righteousness and salvation.  Through the power of these two gifts, he led millions to Jesus Christ.  (This is not to imply these were his only gifts.  I know he was also gifted by the Holy Spirit.)  However, gifts of righteousness and salvation come direct from Jesus Himself. Before the Lord judged Sodom and Gomorrah, He appeared to Abraham in the plains of Mamre.  This was the visitation of his covenant with Abraham and Sarah setting the time of Isaac’s birth.  However, the visitation was two fold. After eating with Abraham,  the LORD and three angels were leaving for Sodom.  Abraham walked with them part of the way.  The Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do? (18:17).

Idol #27 – Today we repent for putting traditions & heritages above god. We can make this an idol too because we trust OUR PAST HISTORY more than we do TRUTH. If God wants to move us or do something different, we may not obey Him because we trust our past and history more than the voice of God. Lord we repent for putting our ideologies and beliefs above you Lord! Help us to have hearts to be changed, molded and moved upon your command. Help us to follow your voice. Also, forgive us for participating in idol worship in some of our old traditions. Set us free Lord.

Idol #26 – Lord forgive us for worshiping our animals more than you. We will refuse to leave the house because of the animals to minister to anyone. We will not obey you as a minister to travel somewhere because of animals. We will love the animals more than our own children, spouse, and even you Lord. Forgive us for leaning too much affection on YOUR CREATION versus THE CREATOR. Forgive us for this Lord. Help us to get our priorities in order and OBEY YOU FIRST.
