Fun Fact: the original 1982 Tron is one of Cupcake’s favorite nostalgic cornerstone films. This week he forces WillDaBeast to watch the third film in the franchise: Tron: Ares. Directed by one of the co-directors of the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie and starring up and coming performers Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith and Evan Peters, veteran actors Jeff Bridges and Gillian Anderson, and starring the nearly-cancelled, gorgeous but maybe difficult to work worth and satisfy, questionable celebrity Jared Leto, Tron: Ares dazzles with sizzling CGI effects and a banging Nine Inch Nails score. For a franchise that has only offered three films in FORTY THREE YEARS (!), will this sequel revive the “was it ever there” franchise or is it time for Tron to hit the “Recycle Bin” for good?

Starring Maddie Hasson, Marco Piggosi, Alex Roe, and Andra Nechitta, this thriller has two couples showing up at the same AirBnB where a weekend turns into psychosexual gamesmanship replete with sexing, stabbing, and sawing. But can does it deliver the goods?

PEELE PRODUCER LABEL NOSEDIVES WITH HIM - STULTIFYING MISFIRE!

HEAVY STEPHEN KING NOVEL HITS THE SCREEN…BUT DOES IT HAVE LEGS?

A 1979 Stephen King novel got a big screen adaptation, and Watch Skip Plus gives you its singular critique and analysis in a brand new episode. Cupcake experienced some major tech difficulties as he “Resolve”-d to master a new editing software, but the WS+ boyz are back! This time taking on the fourth Conjuring film, itself the 9th movie in the “Conjuring” universe (the “CU”). Directed by CU mainstay director Michael Chaves with returning leads Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, pic fashions the famed demonologists (or hoax-artists?) Ed and Lorraine Warren as spiritual warrior-superheroes as they wage war on a demon that has a link to both the Warrens and a Pittsburgh family. With diminishing returns in the franchise, is this new Conjuring a return to form of the fun-house thrills of Conjuring 1 and 2 or does this series of films need to head towards the light and live on in our memories?

Cupcake all but ordered WillDaBeast to see the new Ron Howard film solely because advanced word had Jude Law doing a “one for the history books” full frontal nude scene. And so it is: this week the Boyz review Ron Howard’s historically based, “Survivor”-esque 1930’s period drama “Eden” starring Law, Vanessa Kirby, Daniel Bruehl (BARON ZEMO!), current controversial it-girl Sydney Sweeney, and Ana De Armas. Aside from the obvious visual DELIGHTS (warning: lots of breasts, penis, butt, and pregnancy talk/jokes), is this a return to prestige engrossing filmmaking from Howard or is “Eden” setting itself up to run afoul of potential multiple Razzie nominations (yes, at least one host thinks this is absolute dreck)?

Cupcake’s favorite action filmmakers 87North (David Leitch and Kelly McCormack’s production company) return with “Nobody 2” starring Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielson, Sharon Stone, RZA, John Ortiz, Christopher Lloyd, and Daniel Bernhardt. 87North might be having the same kind of year as BlumHouse with lackluster audience reception to previous releases Love Hurts and Ballerina. Will this action comedy sequel directed by Indo-Asian action filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto in his US debut break the bad streak? And what will WillDaBeast and Cupcake think about this second go around with Hutch and his family vacation ruined by a run-in with a female girl-boss gangster? You’ll be surprised who gives this one a “skip” (!)

Meanwhile: Mike pluses his live concert experience with LCD Soundsystem (guess what? In a year that has been a veritable gift for horror fans, the director of “Barbarian” unleashes his eagerly anticipated follow-up, “Weapons” starring Josh Brolin (top billing! We explain…), Julia Garner, (Jose’s future husband) Alden Ehrenreich, and Benedict Wong. For a film shrouded in secrecy and teased by a provocative and intriguing teaser trailer, Weapons is poised to draw the audience into its web of mystery. WS+ hosts, WillDaBeast and Cupcake, were NOT ready for the cinematic assault of the double-back, time-around narrative, the true reveal of the genre, the central mystery, and the craziest WTF ending (Director Zach Cregger must have watched “28 Years Later” and then said….hold my f&*king beer). Not to sound like Alfred Hitchcock, but please don’t spoil the film for your friends or yourself and try to watch this one blind. This is a must listen to episode!
