Episode 99: Megalopolis Movie Review - Watch or Skip?
In this episode, hosts Emcee and Cupcake dive into the intricate history and contentious reception of Francis Ford Coppola’s 'Megalopolis.' They discuss the film's problematic production, including cast and crew issues and legal hurdles, alongside the novel but flawed volumetric capture technology used. Alex expresses his intense disappointment, influenced by his viewing experience with Alexus, while Jose provides a more balanced critique, acknowledging the film's ambition but criticizing its execution.

Episode 98: The Not A Bomb / Watch Skip Plus crossover is here and it’s a TWO AND A HALF HOUR JOURNEY!
PODCASTERS ASSEMBLE! Not a Bomb and Watch Skip Plus do their first ever epic crossover episode and it’s a doozy: All four hosts were hanging out together live and in person for a whole week so they all just had to share the fun times with all the listeners!
First up, NAB’s special segment on Baltimore Comic Con and the treasures Troy and Brad found while Cupcake talks popping his Comic Con cherry. And FILMS…the films we watched!!!! The crossover plus is a surprise taste test of a limited edition drink.
Then the Watch Skip’ers and NAB dudes review Coralie Fargeat’s sophomore feature film: The Substance starring Demi (It’s duh-MEE) Moore and Margaret Qualley. Believe it or not, due to the format of both pods, the film matches both shows’ criteria: a new release and a bomb (box office figures are showing weak weak turnout). Is this indictment of society’s impossible beauty standards a BOMB or is it a stunning theatrical “Do I keep watching or walk out?”, gross-out body horror experience?
INJECT US IN YOUR EARS!!!!

Episode 96 appears from the Afterlife, complete with a waiting room ticket!!!
Emcee and Cupcake are joined by the host of the Backlook Cinema Podcast, Zo to review “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”, the direct sequel to the 1988 classic. The film summons the original director (Tim Burton) and stars (Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara) for more bio-exorcist shenanigans. Just don’t say his name three times….the recording and editing took a (after)lifetime because Cupcake’s PC kept crashing. But with the magic of editing, the Boyz let you know if this is a fun eccentric laughfest worthy of the genre-busting original or if it’s more of the same and deserves banishment to that weird planet with sandworms (and we ain’t talking Dune here!)
Turn on the Watch/Skip juice and see what shakes loose!

Episode 95 just for you the Strange Darling review Cupcake and Alex recorded
The Boyz are back with another episode! This time they are joined by the incredible John from the “And Now For Something A Little Bit Different” YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/@johnhorgan1713), and the three take a break from big studio fare to review the current buzzy-super hot indie “Strange Darling”. With an incredible pedigree - one of the producers wrote the book “1001 Films You Need to See Before You Die”, indie actor extraordinaire Kyle Gallner, the DP is none other than actor Giovanni Ribisi - is Strange Darling with its lush filmic cinematography, intense performances, and non-linear, time-jumping narrative THE IT indie thriller of the year (in a year with some sparkling indie fare) or is it pretentious arthouse drivel?
You may need to actually SEE the film and then listen to the full episode to find out!
In This Episode:
Q and Alex Icebreaker: Best non-linear narrative film?
Special Guest John talks hi tech journal-ing.
Emcee gives us the future of…….some sport with dudes throwing an object.

Episode 94 Blink Twice - JUST IN TIME FOR YOUR LABOR DAY COOKOUT!!!!
Emcee and Cupcake blink twice to signal their review of….wait for it…..Blink Twice, the directorial debut of actor extraordinaire Zoe Kravitz. Starring Channing Tatum and Naomi Ackie, the film features a knockout cast of veteran and new actors (Simon Rex! Adria Arjona! Christian Slater!) and starts with an unprecedented trigger warning for the audience. Is this likely-to-be-polarizing, psychologically violent allegory for gender politics and power dynamics albeit gorgeously shot a watch or a skip?
Check us out while you max and relax by the pool or sucking on a chili dog at your cookout!
In This Episode:
Q and Alex Icebreaker: Brunch?

Episode 93 chest-bursting out and ready to stalk your ears!
Listen and celebrate the SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF WATCH SKIP PLUS with a special episode featuring Cupcake, new 2024 co-host Emcee, and the OG WS+ Co-host/co-founder Justin the Red! With debut Episode 0: Introductions and Episode 1: Bullet Train streaming on August 22, 2022, nearly two years and a day later, the BOYZ grab their Reebok stompers and pulse rifles and review Fede Alvarez’s re-boot/re-quel/interquel “Alien: Romulus”. Hold on tight….the puns, the jokes, the cat cameos, and the Alien franchise knowledge fly so fast at lightspeed we forgot to put Emcee’s logline in (!) SEVEN years in hypersleep since the last Alien film (Prometheus-sequel “Alien: Covenant”) is this a worthy addition to the beloved, seminal, and polarizing sci-fi horror franchise or is it an eye-rolling, scene-copying fan-edit of “Alien’s Greatest Hits”?
In This Episode:

Kicking Episode 92 out of the nest….just for you!
Emcee and Alex record off schedule and apparently they drank several Red Bulls before recording so you get to thrill as they energetically go cuckoo for “Cuckoo” the eagerly anticipated horror thriller from new (wave?) German director Tilman Singer. Amidst the giallo-esque shadows and John Carpenter nods, a gorgeous cast including Hunter Schaefer, Jessica Henwick, and Dan Stevens spreads its wings to peck away at the central mystery of this sci-fi/supernatural tinged thriller. Jump scares, genital snot, and confusion abounds as your lovely hosts ruffle their feathers trying to understand just WTF is happening here. Flock along with the stumbling as Emcee explains it all to a stunned Cupcake.
In This Episode:
Cupcake asks where Eli Roth went wrong.
Emcee talks streaming screaming (with laughter)!

Grab your Lady in the Water! Episode 91 is Happening!!!!!
The Boys are Wide Awake taking on the brand new thriller from the Unbreakable director M. Night Shyamalan - Trap starring Josh Harnett. Many are Split on Shyamalan - known throughout the Village for his early thrillers with a twist which were all hits, Shymalan then had a string of disasters. Are all the Signs there for a cinematic blockbuster that will make us all Servant to the next M. Night thriller or is the writing on the Glass that this is a Skip not worth the Visit?
