Join me and my good, goodly bud Agnes as we go on the emotional rollercoaster that is the sixth episode of one of the finest adventure series in recent years, Sweet Tooth. So much heart, so well crafted and acted, Sweet Tooth was an unsung hero of the P*ndemic Era streaming landscape. Which the new season dropping this week (to deservedly boffo ratings and acclaim), I thought now was a good a time as any to finally drop this episode which had been collecting dust on my hard drive for over two years. Agnes was an amazingly good time and maybe she'll be kind enough to visit again!

I feel like universally acclaimed movies are ordinary easy pickin's in the review business. But in preparation for a rewatch of Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022), I've decided to watch a few movies that I hadn't and which were tangentially related to EEAAO, and Wong Kar-wai's In the Mood For Love (2000) fits that bill. Not only does EEAAO pay homage to this film in a few scenes, but Ke Huy Quan worked for Wong behind the camera on a number of projects.

Overall, I'm hoping to gain a greater context and appreciation for one of my favorite pictures of 2022.

So so, pleasantly surprised my assumptions were wrong about this one. As always, I'd recommend having watched the movie previous to playing this commentary, but you're free to do you.

I had some fun with this one. McKay does a great job balancing anxiety with absurdity, the musical cues are masterful, and the performances decent. The final scene really got me, it made the entire movie worth it.

Went into this almost WANTING to hate it, and came out having every single song stuck in my head for weeks. I am no fan of Manuel-Miranda, and Surface Pressure is my least favorite song I've listened to for over 20 mins on a loop, but I am now a covert. The animation, if nothing else, is amazing. The music is catchy, the story is tight, but you can hear the hateration in this my initial watch. I may consider recording my post-conversion takes, who knows.

If you're new to this experiment, I conceived of it during Quarantine to be something like those old DVD commentary tracks with the director or writer or whoever, except I'm just a regular fella that likes talking during movies. This is the very first (uploaded) episode of "With Septimo"! Dude, I've just decided to get out of my head and finally release this stuff. I always try to record as soon as these movies and shows or whatever come out, but I second guess myself for months never releasing anything. This podcast isn't perfect, but it is done and it is out there. Feels good man...
