Watching My Dad's Movies episodes

  • Ghost Dad: Cosby, Poitier, Lil Batman & My Dad

My dad, Barry Corbin, played Bill Cosby’s boss in Sidney Poitier’s Ghost Dad! In this episode I talk to him about being in the great Poitier’s rolodex, why he prefers working with directors who are also actors, how I distracted Cosby on set, what it was like showing up to work with me dressed as Batman, and why Cosby used to be my hero. As always, I also sit down with my friend and co-host Nick Casalini to talk about where this movie fits into my personal story, why the comedy just doesn’t work, how hard it is to watch Cosby now, my dad’s insane accent, and the nature of a bad movie that’s good versus a bad movie that’s bad.

    Season One. Episode Three.

Legendary Hollywood character actor Barry Corbin talks about how he almost didn't survive filming his new Apple TV show "Brothers" with Woody Harrelson & Matthew McConaughey, his theories on Urban Cowboy, his experience on Northern Exposure, mechanical bulls, making family movies with his kids, giving back and his Texas roots.

  • Killers of the Flower Moon: Scorsese, De Niro, DiCaprio & My Dad

My dad, Barry Corbin, played the Undertaker in Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon! This episode I talk with him about what it was like being directed by the great Scorsese, signing autographs while Robert De Niro stood around, giving Leonardo DiCaprio reading recommendations, and filming during COVID. As always, I also sit down with my buddy Nick Casalini, and we talk about our personal experiences rewatching this Oscar-snubbed epic, which Scorsese films are our favorites, and why Robert De Niro is basically Nick's dad.

  • Urban Cowboy: Travolta, Texas, Swayze & My Dad

My dad, Barry Corbin, broke into Hollywood as a character actor in 1980 playing John Travolta’s lovable uncle in Urban Cowboy! In our very first episode of Watching My Dad’s Movies, I talk to him about the audition process, meeting and hanging out with Travolta at the height of his fame, the jump from theater to film, a young Patrick Swayze tagging along with his mother Patsy as she choreographed the movie’s amazing dances, and what kind of support my dad had from his parents. Plus, joining me all season long will be my co-host and pal Nick Casalini - the two of us sit down to discuss the poetic power of a mechanical bull, the brilliant performances, Travolta’s star power, my personal favorite quotes from the movie, and what it means for me to follow in my father’s footsteps.

    Season One, Episode One.

  • Season One - Trailer

Welcome to Watching My Dad's Movies! The podcast where I, Christopher Corbin, watch all the movies my dad, Barry Corbin, has acted in. And as you'll see he's been in tons of them. Every episode I interview him about these movies (like No Country For Old Men, Urban Cowboy and Killers of the Flower Moon). He tells some crazy Hollywood stories and I get to learn about his life and career (like the time he had to leave the set of Stir Crazy because Richard Pryor was ready to shoot a crew member). Then I talk with my friend Nick Casalini about each film, how it impacted us personally and where I was at in my life when my dad worked on it. Each episode weaves these two conversations together as I do my best to honor my dad's career and, at times, poke fun at him (and his wigs).

Tune in to hear about Tom Hanks, John Candy, Gene Wilder, Dom DeLuise, Leonardo DiCaprio, Burt Reynolds, Dolly Parton, Adrien Brody, Martin Scorsese, The Coen Brothers, John Travolta and so many more. Plus Nick and I share all kinds of personal stories and explore how each movie relates to our lives.

Episodes drop every Monday starting September 21, 2026.
