The intent is an opportunity for the reader or hearer to “hit pause” on the intensity of the unfolding events and simply be reminded that God really is reigning over all creation, even when our vantage point is telling us something else. While God is reclaiming what rightfully belongs to him, His mission is to secure a people for His own possession who know and enjoy Him. This mission is on display throughout the biblical narrative, but intensifies from the ascension of Jesus until His glorious return. The means of this mission is an unlikely message through unlikely messengers.
