As our justification is by faith and not works, so it is by grace and not merit. There was nothing desirable in us that forced the Father’s hand or tipped the scales in our favor. When we were at our worst, He chose us. When we wanted nothing to do with Him, He loved us. When we were completely helpless, He rescued us for Himself (Eph. 2:1-3; Rom. 5:6-11). This was His choice to adopt us on the basis of His goodness, not ours. As a result of His purpose, plan, and choice, we are truly “blessed in the Beloved” (Eph.1:6). Our desire in this study is to consider the magnitude and significance of GRACE ALONE.
