(1) The OT translation for atonement is taken from the Hebrew word kaphar which literally means “to COVER.”

(2) The word redemption is now used in a SPIRITUAL SENSE to describe the over-all work of Christ in salvation, but it also means in a NATURAL SENSE deliverance on payment of a ransom price, in the case of a slave, or a prisoner of war, or in order to let the condemned go free from prison.

(3) Redemption is always at a COST to the redeemer.

(4) There are all sorts of illustrations of God’s CARE for people and His READINESS to bring about deliverance as long as that deliverance does not conflict with His demands of justice.

(5) In the whole of the OT there is no STERNER TEST of faith than the attempted sacrifice of Isaac on Mount Moriah. It is a test of OBEDIENCE.

(6) This showed Abraham’s FAITH in God believing that SOMEHOW OR OTHER God would fulfill His promise to BLESS the world through that very Isaac he was to lay on the altar, even if it MEANT RAISING him for the dead (Heb. 11:17-19).

(8) Leviticus actually means a book FROM the Levites, the priests during the time of Moses. Leviticus established in greater detail the implication of a sacrificial relationship to God.

(9)Exodus emphasizes REDEMPTION — deliverance and liberation by God. Leviticus emphasizes the RESTORATION of a redeemed people to communion with God. This restoration was to be SECURED by sacrifice.

(10) There were 2 distinct types of Levitical offerings: one type including 5 offerings by individuals called burnt, meal, peace, sin, and trespass offerings. The meal offering is the only BLOODLESS OFFERING. However before the meal offering was placed on the alter, the burnt offering was given first.

(12) Redemption and atonement is portrayed in Isaiah’s prophecy in chapter 53.

(13) Jesus’ death and resurrection fulfills the work that the animal sacrifices mandated by the Law of Moses BEGAN but could NEVER COMPLETE.

(14) Under the Law of Moses, sin was neither PURGED, PUT AWAY, nor CLEANSED. They were only COVERED by the blood of bulls and goats that could NEVER take away sins completely.

Luke 7:22 (Read) The Lord wants us to trust him completely. TRUST: is the highest kind of faith. Trust is having unshakeable faith even when events or circumstances are not understood. Remember Job said, “Though he slays me, yet will I trust Him”.

What is a title deed? A legal deed or document constituting evidence of a right, especially to ownership of property. FOR THE CHILD OF GOD, FAITH IS THE TITLE DEED TO THE PROPERTY YOU KNOW YOU POSSESS, EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT YET.

Romans 10:8 – But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart that is, the word of faith which we preach. That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

We must learn to TALK FAITH. FAITH IS: never feeling, feeling is never faith. Faith is expecting God to do what you know He has said in His word that He will do. Faith is believing that God does not lie. (Num 23:19 – God is not a man, that he should lie. My faith will give action to the power of God. Persistent faith always wins! Faith is a possessor – every promise you can put your feet upon is yours. Faith is more often seen than heard.

JESUS saw their faith in their actions. (Matthew 9:2 – A man with palsy who was let down through the roof on a cot). JESUS saw their faith in their actions.

First, God gives us a promise; when that promise creates faith which produces action, He fulfills it. The word is the seed of divine life. The seed must be planted in our mind and heart and then spoken out of our mouth! It cannot be planted until it is known, received and trusted. The seed must remain planted and be kept watered before it can produce a harvest. The seed is powerless until it is planted.

We must know the benefits of Calvary before we can appropriate them by faith. God’s word is imperishable. His word is SPIRIT and LIFE. Benefits: Salvation, healing, deliverance, peace, forgiveness of sin, prosperity, new life.

We cannot depend on the faith of someone else. Have your own faith. You will always keep that with you because God is always with you, and so is His word. John 15:7 – If ye abide in me, and my words, abide in you, you will ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you.

Everyone that asks receives. Never substitute the prayers of others for your own asking.
