For many, Shannon Bream is a familiar face on Fox News, the chief legal correspondent, and the host of Fox News Sunday. But for the community at Immanuel Baptist Church in Tallahassee, FL, she is also a daughter of the congregation. In a recent interview with Doug Apple, Vickie Bass, the leader of the Women’s Ministry at Immanuel Baptist, shared the exciting news of Shannon’s upcoming return to her hometown.
On Thursday, March 26, 2026, Bream will be speaking to women at the church. The event coincides with her role as the Grand Marshal of the Springtime Tallahassee parade, marking a true homecoming for the North Florida Christian and FSU Law graduate.
A Testimony of Persistence
While the event is a highlight for the ministry, Vickie Bass’s own story serves as the heartbeat of the mission. During her conversation with Doug Apple, Vickie revealed a "thumbnail" of her journey—one that involved a 25-year "wilderness" walk. After marrying young, it took a quarter of a century before her husband surrendered his life to Christ.
"I always say, when I reached my hand up to God, He was reaching His hand down to me," Vickie noted. Her rededication at age 49 sparked a passion for women’s ministry that continues to drive her today. Her story is a testament to the fact that God’s timing is rarely our own, but it is always perfect.
Meeting Women in Every Season
The Women’s Ministry at Immanuel Baptist Church focuses on the diverse "seasons" women face. Vickie observed that many women, particularly those in the thick of motherhood and career-building, find themselves spread thin. Often, the only time they have for God is during corporate worship on Sundays.
The goal of the upcoming event and the ministry at large is to encourage women to develop an individual, thriving relationship with the Lord. By looking to biblical figures like Esther, Vickie reminds women that they are called "for such a time as this." Whether in a season of waiting or a season of busyness, God has a specific plan for each life.
An Invitation to the Community
The event at Immanuel Baptist Church is free to the public, though registration is required due to limited seating. It serves as an opportunity for the women of Tallahassee to step away from the noise of daily life and immerse themselves in the Word and fellowship. As Vickie says, "If you’re tied to His word and you’re listening for His word, you’ll be able to absorb what it is He has planned for you."
