Keith Cardin shares his incredible journey from a man lost in addiction and worldly chaos to a devoted servant of God. He explains how his upbringing in a Christian home gave him a foundation, but it was his personal trials—including a painful divorce, a gunshot wound, and multiple arrests—that ultimately led him to surrender his life fully to Christ. His story is a powerful testimony to God's relentless pursuit and miraculous intervention.
Keith recounts a pivotal conversation with his father who explained that just as the Israelites always wanted to return to Egypt (their place of bondage), he was always returning to his own "Egypt" of drugs and alcohol whenever things got difficult.
He describes a life-threatening incident where he was shot while driving, which served as a wake-up call, a sign of God's preservation despite his sinful choices.
Keith also shares the moment when he heard an audible voice from God telling him, "if you leave, you'll die," leading him to seek help at a Salvation Army adult rehabilitation center.
The ultimate turning point came during a four-month jail sentence where he promised God he was done with his old life and would serve Him. This led to the creation of Matthew Ministries 25:36.
He details how he sold four of his seven charter boats to fund the ministry, which is based on the Scripture from Matthew 25:36, emphasizing service to those in prison and the needy.
Keith's ministry has grown to include visiting the Walker County Correctional Institute, where he runs a Bible study for inmates with Alzheimer's and dementia, seeing positive changes in their behavior and mental state.
He also teaches a Christian addiction class that focuses on the Bible as the guide to overcoming addiction rather than the 12-step program, declaring a new identity in Christ.
Keith and his ministry provided significant disaster relief during Hurricane Michael, praying and witnessing with thousands of people while also using his skills as an electrician to help restore power.
He encourages others to serve God with what they have, whether through financial donations, prayer, or using their own skills to help others, reminding listeners that you can't outgive God.
