Part 3 – SERIES: Wawasee Core

Our second core value is that God Wrote It All Down. God wrote a book. Everything we need to successfully live the Christian life and have joy is written down for us in the Bible. God has revealed everything we need to know about him and salvation in the Bible. Our Bible is reliable, authoritative, and sufficient. We are to believe it in all that it teaches, obey it in all it requires, and trust it in all that it promises.

Part 2 – SERIES: Wawasee Core

Our first core value is this: "It's All About Jesus!" Why? – Because IT'S ALL ABOUT JESUS! Paul makes it very clear in Colossians 1:15-23 that it's all about Jesus and that he must be first in everything. Our lives are to be all about Jesus. Creation is all about Jesus. The Church is all about Jesus. Salvation is all about Jesus. It is ALL about Jesus! Until Jesus is first in every area of my life, I will never experience the joy I was created to know.

Part 1 – SERIES: Wawasee Core

We start a new series this week, "Wawasee Core", exploring the core of who we uniquely are as a church family. This week we begin by celebrating 30 years of God's faithfulness to our church and looking forward to the next 30. Pastor Josh introduces and unpacks our new mission statement: "We are sent to love people and invite them to follow Jesus with us." He also gives a brief overview of our new core values: 1) It's All About Jesus! 2) God Wrote It All Down. 3) All People Matter. 4) We All Need Friends. 5) No Sacred Cows. We'll be unpacking each value from Scripture over the next five weeks of this series.

Part 14 – SERIES: Summer Psalms 2016

We wrap up our Summer Psalms series this week by looking at the last three Psalms: 148, 149, and 150. Each has as its focus the praise of Jesus Christ. Everyone and everything worships. The question is what/who do you worship FIRST? You were designed (and are commanded) to worship JESUS first. When you do, it yields great joy!

Unity in the Church is a good and precious thing—but sadly all to rare. David declares how good unity is among God's people, then gives two pictures to communicate it. He wraps up by pointing out the blessing of unity—life! One of the keys to unity in a church is to view your church as family. We must also keep Jesus, not our own interests and agendas, front and center. He's the Senior Pastor, and it's his church!

Psalm 93 is one of a handful of "enthronement" Psalms that celebrate God as King. This week we make some observations about God as King from Psalm 93. Jesus' kingdom is forever, is all powerful, and is unlike any other! Are you worshiping God as King?

David writes Psalm 142 from the cave of Adullam. He was running for his life from King Saul, his jealous and insecure father-in-law. David had to wonder how he ended up in this place. God had chosen and anointed him to be king one day and used him mightily to save Israel in battle on multiple occasions. So why would God lead him here? Do you find yourself in a desolate cave wondering if God cares or even knows? Psalm 142 is for you.

Psalm 111 is a Psalm of praise to the Lord. As we study it we're reminded that we must praise the Lord corporately, as his church! We must praise him for his great works. We must praise him for his sure word. And we must praise the Lord for his wise will.

When you face a "day of trouble" in your life, where is your trust? Do you find it in yourself? In things you can see? Or do you root your trust in the name of the Lord? That's the issue at hand in Psalm 20 — and it begs the question for you: Where is your trust?

In some ways you could say that Psalm 104 is a note that the psalmist wrote to himself. He preaches to his own soul saying, "Soul, bless the Lord!" Then, working through God's creation, gives reasons to bless the Lord. Do you need to write a note to yourself? "Bless the Lord, o my soul!"
