So a lot has happened since the last episode. Schools are starting back as somewhat normal again and the world is seemingly shifting toward a post-COVID era. Reflecting back on the past summer many things happened in my life and looking back I'm grateful for what I experienced; from losing grandma and learning to be there for my family, to meeting up with old friends, making new friends, getting the vaccine, moving to a new place, and going on crazy adventures, it all felt like years has gone by this past summer. Here we are again, Fall is here and second year of grad. school is about to start.
Cathy is one of the new people I met who is full of good energy and I appreciate people like her. Spontaneously, before the semester started for me, I reached out and asked if she would like to be a part of these podcast conversations I do. Kindly she accepted, although I know it was not something she was comfortable with, which I appreciated; plus, it's not bad to spend some time outside our comfort zones. For me doing these is not easy either, but after doing each one I just feel pure joy and much inspiration for life. We did it and it ended up being exactly that.
With Taiwanese roots and growing up in Shanghai, Cathy or Pei Yu explained many things about the East-Asia that I was not familiar with. Also, people can actually not dance and not listen to music or sing to themselves, which I never thought it was possible, but boyyy I was wrong.
She considers her greatest accomplishment the people and friends around her; the recording does not portray how I felt when I heard that, it's honestly one of the greatest things I've ever heard. I was really touched and wanted to give her a big hug, but...
Thank you again Cathy for coming on and being open to go on this journey. Wish you all the best, you'll always have a friend in me :)
