Software Engineer by day. Singer/songwriter and ½ of the music duo Block East by night.

In this episode, I had the opportunity to talk to Andros about some of his listening habits, inspirations both musically and cross industry, vocal training, where he’d like to hear his song played, and much more.

Andros has quite a unique experience. Originally from “the 6” in Canada, spent some time in Hong Kong, studied in London and flew across the pond back to the states and now resides in the Bay. His time abroad allowed for different experiences for music scenes and inspirations. Artists like Dominic Fike, The Weekend, Joji, Zhu, Denzel Curry and Nujabes (RIP) are just a few artists that have had a large impact on sound/ artists he enjoys.

Andros also is involved in many side hustles, one of which is called ‘Wonder’ where he is helping on the development side of the app. Wonder is a productivity app for goal and task setting, where users can get feedback & different perspectives from the community on the projects they are working on. (We actually used the Wonder app to meet and set up this interview!) Signup to join the waitlist at wonderapp.co !

Some exciting news from Block East, is that they have recently released a song called “Dear” (now streaming on all platforms), which had a different meaning than I originally thought, which we dig into a little more in the episode (listen to learn more). Side note: if you like Joji, you will love this song!

From the Wonder App to Block East, we see that teamwork is very present in his workflow, which is a wonderful thing to see! Support by giving Dear by Block East a listen and sign up for the Wonder App.

Happy to be back! Tried out some new questions, got some great and unique answers! Hope you get some inspiration from the episode & guest mix! Thanks!

This week I had the opportunity to interview the homie Raymond, fun fact, he helped me start my first ever podcast at uni... we rented a microphone from the library and built from there! We've come a long way... I now own a mic. with a record of 1 win 5 losses (in terms of plugging it into the computer).

In this episode, Raymond takes the music format back to CDs and talks about what CDs he listened to during a road trip. Mentioning artists such as Murs and Eligh. At this time he has been touching base on a lot of throwback tunes during the extra free time.

Throughout the episode, it is apparent that Raymond has a heavy interest in rap/hip-hop music, always with an eye for the hidden underground and "backpack" rap. Also beats and instrumentals play a large role when looking for favorite tracks to bump. Some legendary producers we mentioned were MF Doom (RIP), Jake One, listen to the episode for the full list...

We also dive into artists discovered through concerts whether that was in person, Coachella live streams, or just inspiration through friends.

Another interesting segway was the topic to coming of age songs, scoring films, music memes, etc.

And to wrap things up, I asked Raymond, the classic 3 albums on an island question. As well as some experimental bonus questions. So stay tuned for that.

Fun episode like always, hope you get some inspiration from the episode or the playlist! Thanks!
