Jesus constantly challenged his followers and their current understandings. What he spoke 2000 years ago still challenges us today. Be persistent, stay humble, be obedient.

Stewardship... a term used many times about how to handle your finances. But, it's more than that. Jesus' has some thoughts on the matter as we dive into this weeks message.

This is a historic and prophetic parable. It speaks not only historically about God's interaction with His people, but also of future events when Jesus comes back.

Both of these parables reference someone who is in charge (the master) giving something of worth to servants. The charge to these servants was to keep and do business with these valuables until the master returned. What does that mean for us today?

Over the past few weeks, we have seen how Jesus has focused on the believers in response to each other through forgiveness and showing mercy and compassion to our neighbor. This week’s parable deals with the context of our relationship to God and to others.

How do we respond when we are confronted with the realities of a fallen world? Do we turn a blind eye? Maybe we look from a distance? Or do we engage? In this message Jesus defines the role of the believer in relation to the world around them.

Until now the focus of the parables have been God towards us and our response to Him. This parable takes a turn and shifts the focus to an interpersonal paradigm. The principles of the Kingdom not only affect the dynaic of how we live twrards God, but also how we live in relation to one another.

Jesus was intentional with His words. What was lost was found intentionally. What do we do with His model of intentionallity?

It's not about what we have accomplished, but rather what He has accomplished.

Using the natural process of yeast causing dough to rise, Jesus illustrates the effect of what a little can do in the Kingdom of God.
