This week’s episode features two great interviews with creators at Insane Comics! First up is Brian Berg, co-creator of Ghost #1 with Wade Price. Then we wrap things up with a fun chat with Michael McNaughton, who does just about everything on GX #1, the first of a high-octane miniseries. What makes a hero? That’s just one of the topics I discuss with indie comics creator Jon Santana during episode 228! Jon’s writing shines in his creations Jaded, Wordsmith, Everhounds and Bejaded, a webcomic based loosely on Jaded.

We talk about his realistic take on superheroes in Jaded, and some of what we can expect as this high-octane miniseries concludes with the final three of six issues. Almighties Amass! This week’s episode features the return of indie comics creators Sam Johnson and Mike Gagnon as they update us on their Almighties series, including a new R-rated version of one of their books now available!

We discuss the series and the characters included in these books, which has graduated from a parody comic to an adventure comic in its own right! We also talk about the other projects both of them are working on. I admit it – I got a little carried away with the R-rating at times, but it’s all in good fun to promote Sam and Mike’s excellent product! Indie comics are some of the most creative available today! This week, I talk with creators Brian Demeter and Josh Geoghagan about their terrific 40-page one shot graphic novella A Graveyard For Whales.

It’s described as “one man’s journey through the fantastic heights and sinister depths of a beautiful and deadly dreamscape that serves as a challenge, a reminder, and a call to adventure!” We discuss how this book came to be, how I came to buy my copy, and what other projects they have coming that we should know about! For this week’s episode, I have a special interview with Alethea, the creator of a fascinating Indie series from Insane Comics called Moonlit Dawn: A Mythical Tale.

I love variety in my reading, and this series is enjoyable and creative, so I loved it, of course! Alethea talks about creating the comic (which started out as a webcomic), including the fact that she pretty much creates the book on her own, including plotting, art, coloring and lettering! Wow! We also talked about her love for wolves (many appear in this book), her experience as a comics creator living in the state of Alaska, and conventions she’ll be attending in the near future.

I first discovered Impure Blood and Melting Down at this year’s C2E2, and after reading their great books, I knew I had to interview creators Nadja Baer and Nathan Lueth. They discuss how they’re bringing the Impure Blood series of graphic novels to fans everywhere, including how Nathan introduced Nadja to comics, how they work together as a team, and how they put these books together, including using laying out the pages in landscape format instead of the usual portrait mode comics often appear in. This series is also a webcomic, with a new page appearing every Monday. We also talk about Melting Down, which is described as “a comic for kids with Asperger’s Disorder and challenging behavior,” a comic I found both riveting and educational.

Ruben Romero from Think Alike Productions is back, and he’s got a hot Kickstarter going on for his Three Swords project at this link!

He discusses how the comic is a re-imagining of the Three Musketeers, but with a twist! He’s working with Salvagers’ Bob Salley to make this book full of action, adventure and magic! This week is a C2E2 double-header! First up is Warren Simons, editor-in-chief at Valiant Entertainment! I got the chance to interview him at this year’s C2E2, which was the perfect opportunity to catch up on what this excellent comics company has going on these days! We discussed A&A: Archer and Armstrong, the Faith miniseries, and other great books including the upcoming 4001 A.D. and others! He also talks about what impact if any the recent movie deal Valiant signed will have on their books, so don’t miss it!

Then everything wraps up with the return of Richard Rivera, creator of the great indie comic Stabbity Bunny! He introduces us to his new projects, including Wild Bull & Chipper and a coloring book that was a hit at the aforementioned C2E2 convention! Oh, and he also updates us on how the next issue of Stabbity Bunny is coming along, so you’ll want to hear what he has to say, then check out his stabbity bunny.com website!
