Dr. George Archibald has dedicated his life to saving cranes. He co-founded the International Crane Foundation with a college friend after he learned about the endangered birds. Archibald has worked in the midst of political strife — from North Korea to the former Soviet Union — to ensure that cranes are protected. More than 40 years after he started his conservation efforts, the once critically endangered whooping cranes — with only 15 left in the world in the 1940s — now have a population of just over 600, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Archibald joined Worldview’s Jerome McDonnell to talk about his life’s work.

Growing up in the U.K., Richard Reeves’ family was keenly aware of their class status. When Reeves moved to the United States, he observed that class was largely ignored until the Americans started calling out the ultra-rich during the Occupy Wall Street movement. But while the top one percent may be leading the charge of inequality, Reeves says it’s the upper middle class keeping the rest of Americans down. Reeves joins Worldview for a discussion about class, inequality and his book Dream Hoarders: How the American Upper Middle Class Is Leaving Everyone Else in the Dust, Why That Is a Problem, and What To Do about It.
