WCSUPodcasts

Leslie Lindenauer is joined by Joshua Rosenthal, professor of history at WCSU to discuss alternative assessment methods or "ungrading". Have you ever felt like grading was a little too subjective or not subjective enough? Like maybe there should be a little more to it than just numbers on a scale?

Leslie is joined by Dr. Don Gagnon and Dr. Kate Allocco to discuss what to do when your reference is met with crickets. How can teachers bridge the divide when they (and their cultural references) keep getting older and their students stay the same age.

WCSUMedia's newest podcast is here. Pull up a stool and join us for a tipple. WCSU's Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, CELT, is here to bring you pint sized stories, lectures, and interviews about everything from worst courses ever taken, to pop culture reference swings and misses, to how to ungrade your classes. Cheers.

We stopped by training camp to hear from Coach Loth and the rest of the Wolves before the season kicks off this Saturday 9/2 at The WAC. Noon kick-off. Don't miss it.

Bart and Coach Loth are back in the studio to break down this upcoming season's schedule.

Dr. Kevin Gutzman returns to join Paul on the show this week to talk about his most recent book, "The Jeffersonians: The Visionary Presidencies of Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe". Dr. Gutzman always blows us away and makes us want to renroll in college so we can take his courses.

Paul is joined by Dr. Mitch Wagener, WCSU professor of Ecology and Climate Change Education to talk about this wild winter we've just had. Is it really that strange? Will it have consequences for the year to come? Then we get into some much more global climate change talk.

If you enjoyed this conversation please check out Dr. Wagener's talks both at WCSU and around the community.

Paul is joined by Allison Ruiz, the president of Latino Scholarship Fund which is based here in Danbury, CT. They've been doing great work for our community since 1994 and it was a pleasure to have her on the show. What a terrific guest and a wonderful organization. Please check them out at latinoscholarshipfund.com

Paul is joined by Dr. Christine Hegel to talk about her research into canning. No, not that kind of canning, I thought that too. You'll see.

Then Destiny is back for a recap of Fashion Show and Thanksgiving and what her plans are for the winter break.

Paul is joined, in studio, by Dr. Mary O'Neill. Dr. O'Neill is a professor, podcaster, and entrepreneur. She teaches a series of courses on Designing Your Life through the WCSU Career Success Center. She also writes for Main Street Magazine and co-hosts the Main Street Moxie podcast.

Our student co-host Destiny Samuel is back to talk about her last fall semester and give us the info on some upcoming events but mostly the ACSA Fashion Show which takes place this Friday 11/18.
