Dr. Michael Piwowar first worked for the SEC as a visiting scholar from Iowa State University and in 2002; he joined the SEC in the commission's office of economic analysis.In 2013 he was appointed to the commission by President Obama after having served as chief economist for the Senate Banking Committee and he was designated Acting Chairman of the Commission from January to May 2017.
