MERCED, Calif. - The suspect in the killing of a Merced family had worked for the victims at one point, according to a relative.

A loved one told KTVU that Jesus Salgado, 48, once drove a truck for the family's company.

The bodies of 8-month-old Aroohi Dheri, her parents Jasleen Kaur, 27, and Jasdeep Singh, 36; and her uncle Amandeep Singh, 39., were found at an orchard in Merced County two days after they were kidnapped at gunpoint from their business, police said.

"Our worst fears have been confirmed," Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke said at a Wednesday night news conference.

Warnke said the victims were close to each other when found by a farmworker tending to an almond orchard in a remote area near the town of Dos Palos, a town about 30 miles south of Merced where the family was kidnapped on Monday.

A source close to the investigation told KTVU that the two brothers were killed with a machete. The source said Kaur was then shot as she held her baby girl in her arms. The baby was then left to die.

Sheriff's officials said they believed the family was killed before their relatives reported them missing Monday.

The grim announcement of the family's death came after authorities earlier Wednesday released surveillance video of Salgado kidnapping the family Monday.

The video showed the suspect first walking by the property before talking to one of the men. Later, it shows him leading the men, who had their hands zip-tied behind their backs, into the back seat of Amandeep Singh’s pickup truck. The suspect then went back to the trailer that served as the business office and led Jasleen Kaur, who was carrying her baby in her arms, out and into the truck before the suspect then drove away.

Warnke said the kidnapper made no ransom demands but that he believed it was a financially motivated crime.

"We’re hoping that they can now at least have some kind of closure," Warnke said, adding: "It’s not the closure we were hoping for; it’s not the closure they were hoping for."

Authorities said Salgado, already a convicted robber, tried to kill himself a day after the kidnappings. He was im critical condition when taken into custody but has been talking to police, Warnke said.

Family members said nothing was stolen from the trucking company but that their relatives were all wearing jewelry. Warnke had said that after the kidnappings, an ATM card belonging to one of the victims was used in Atwater. Public records show the family owns Unison Trucking Inc. and family members said they had recently opened an office for it in a parking lot the Singh brothers also operated.

Family members on Wednesday asked anyone who owns a convenience store or gas station in the area to check their surveillance cameras for images of the suspect or those missing. They said they were worried the baby wasn’t being fed because the family didn’t have any baby food with them at the time of the kidnapping.

Relatives of Salgado contacted authorities and told them he had admitted to them he was involved with the kidnapping, Warnke told KFSN-TV on Tuesday. Salgado tried to take his own life before police arrived at a home in nearby Atwater, and he has since been hospitalized.

Efforts to reach Salgado’s family were unsuccessful Thursday.

Salgado was previously convicted of first-degree robbery with the use of a firearm in Merced County, as well as attempted false imprisonment and an attempt to prevent or dissuade a victim or witness. He was sentenced to 11 years in state pris

"There's a special place in hell for this guy" say police, after video showed a man leading the family into a pickup truck by gunpoint. Four family members who were seen on video being led from their business by gunpoint on Monday have been found dead.

The bodies of 27-year-old Jasleen Kaur, 36-year-old Jasdeep Singh, their 8-month-old daughter Aroohi Dheri and the baby's 39-year-old uncle, Amandeep Singh, were found by a farm worker around 5:30pm on Wednesday in a rural area of Dos Palos, California.

"Tonight our worst fears have been confirmed. We found the four people form the kidnapping and they are, in fact, deceased," Merced County Sheriff Vernon Warnke announced in a press conference last night.

"There's no words right now to describe the anger I feel and the senselessness of this incident ... there's a special place in hell for this guy and I mean it," he continued. "What we're gonna deal with tonight is bad and we're gonna be out here all night having to deal with it."

"It's not the closure we were hoping for and it's not the closure [the family's relatives] were hoping for," he added, before confirming the bodies were discovered "relatively close together" in the area.

A press release from the Merced County Police Department said they were found "among the rows of an almond orchard" after being "kidnapped" earlier this week.

A suspect was taken into custody on Tuesday, though no formal charges have yet been brought against the 48-year-old -- who police say "attempted to take his own life ... prior to law enforcement involvement." Warnke said the suspect has given them information they're "going to keep close to our chest at this time" -- adding, "But the suspect has, in fact, been talking to us." Police also believe others may be involved.

"Our focus now has turned to the prosecution of this horrific crime," police said in a release. "With the assistance of the California Department of Justice Investigators have been processing the scene since last night. We are not releasing any details about the crime scene or speculation on any motive or cause of death as this is an ongoing investigation. As soon as we are able to give more details we will. Again, our focus has now turned to the prosecution of this case."

They added investigators are still interviewing the suspect, before saying, "Our thoughts are with the family in their time of grief and we ask that everyone respect their privacy."

On Wednesday, officials released surveillance video of the kidnapping -- in which both Jasdeep and Amandeep Singh are seen arriving to their business on Monday morning. Shortly after, a man can be seen approaching Jasdeep with a trash bag in his hand, before putting down the bag, pulling out a gun and following the victim inside the business.

After a few moments, the suspect and the two brothers are seen being led out of the building by gunpoint, with their hands appearing to be tied behind their backs. They're loaded into a pickup truck, before it drives off and returns just six minutes later. The suspect then enters the business again, before emerging with both Jasleen and baby Aroohi.

The investigation into the family's disappearance began when Amandeep's vehicle was found on fire around noon on Monday. After trying to reach the registered owner of the truck, they were able to contact another member of the family, who attempted to contact Jasleen, Jasdeep and Amandeep to no avail. They were then reported missing.

What Happened?

Three people, including a father and son, have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of rapper PnB Rock, officials announced Thursday.

Freddie Lee Trone, 40, was charged with one count of murder and conspiracy to commit robbery, along with two counts of second-degree robbery, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

A man and his 17-year-old son were charged Thursday with murder in the fatal shooting of rapper PnB Rock at a South Los Angeles restaurant, authorities said.

Freddie Lee Trone, 40, who has yet to be arrested, and his son, who was taken into custody Tuesday, were each charged with one count of murder, two counts of second-degree robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery.

A 38-year-old woman, Shauntel Trone, was also arrested Tuesday and was charged with one count of being an accessory after the fact to the killing.

The teen, who remains jailed, made an initial appearance in juvenile court and was told to return next month. Shauntel Trone was scheduled to be arraigned later Thursday. It is not clear whether either of them has retained an attorney.

A nursing home has been forced to apologize for hiring a stripper to perform for senior citizens in wheelchairs.

The Taoyuan Veterans Home, a state-run facility for retired army personnel in Tawain, paid the adult entertainer for a steamy show to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival — an important holiday in Chinese culture, whereby people gather to celebrate the rice and wheat harvests of the season.

Video of the raunchy performance, which took place last Thursday, was filmed by an attendee before it was posted to social media and quickly went viral.

The kinky clip shows the masked-up erotic dancer clad in lacy lingerie, giving one elderly man a lap dance and thrusting her breasts into his face.

The man doesn’t appear to mind, however, and can be seen squeezing the woman’s assets as she enthusiastically writhes her body. Other nursing home residents clapped along enthusiastically, seeming to relish the raunchy show.

But the senior care facility was hit with backlash and subsequently released a statement saying: “The intention of the event was to entertain residents and make them happy. We are very sorry for the offense that was caused.”
