Hello, everyone, and welcome to *We Are Warriors.* I'm Melissa Haines, and alongside my incredible co-owner and co-host, PVT, we're bringing you a podcast that is more than just words—it’s a movement,…
a mission, and a community bound by strength, resilience, and hope.
*We Are Warriors* was born out of something deeply personal—a calling rooted in both of our experiences, and a shared desire to help others find their own path toward healing. Before we dive into this journey together, let me tell you a little about myself.
I am a survivor—of child abuse and domestic violence. My childhood was marred by the absence of love, safety, and belonging. I felt invisible, unheard, and too often, I was lost in a storm of neglect and pain. These experiences shaped how I viewed myself, relationships, and the world around me.
As I grew older, I found myself in a relationship that seemed to offer what I had always sought—connection, care, and security. But the reality was far from what it seemed. Beneath the surface lurked the shadows of domestic violence, an oppressive cycle that left me feeling trapped and voiceless.
The journey to break free and heal has been arduous. It’s meant confronting the deep scars left by years of trauma, but here I am, standing before you not as a victim, but as a warrior—and PVT, my co-host, is right here with me in this fight.
PVT brings their own unique story, their strength, and their voice to this platform. Together, we are united in our mission: to create a safe haven for survivors. This is a space where stories can be shared, resources can be accessed, and a community can be built—a community that understands, uplifts, and empowers.
In each episode, we’ll explore the intricacies of trauma, the ongoing challenges of recovery, and the incredible resilience of the human spirit. We’ll delve into the psychological impacts of abuse, share tools and strategies for healing, and celebrate the victories—big and small—that come with reclaiming your life.
PVT and I will share our stories, lessons, and the hard-earned hope that sustains us. We’ll also invite guests—survivors, experts, advocates—to provide diverse perspectives and insights.
Let me be clear: *We Are Warriors* is not just a podcast; it’s a call to action. It’s about breaking the silence, challenging stigma, and offering strength to those who may feel they’ve lost it. It’s for anyone who has known trauma in any form—physical, psychological, emotional, or beyond—and it’s for everyone who believes in the power of healing and transformation.
We are so honored to have you here with us. Together, with each episode, we’ll grow this community, champion resilience, and prove that no one is defined by their past—we are defined by the courage it takes to keep moving forward.
Thank you for joining us. Let’s begin this journey together.
