Set in modern-day Colombia, this is the tale of 5 friends who have grown up in poverty in the streets of Medellin, who journey across the country to claim a piece of land that has been inherited by one of them. Throughout the trip they face certain danger and peril, adventure, and mishaps, while also encountering kindness and generosity from unexpected sources. With a backdrop of the beautiful, scenic, Colombian countryside, the film dabbles into some of the magical-realism that was made famous by the Colombian imagination. Will Kevin and Juan appreciate this cinematic glimpse into their homeland? Will this movie offer anything different than the typical, negative Colombian cultural stereotypes? Maybe not.
