This Monday we welcome to the Groove Studio Mr. Bobby Lyle. He is an established pianist, songwriter, producer, arranger, music publisher, sideman, bandleader, musical director and world-class performer. Audiences at home and abroad have been mesmerized by his melodic compositions and dazzling piano techniques. He has performed with some of the greats: from Young-Holt Unlimited Jimi Hendrix, Sly and the Family Stone, Ronnie Laws, Wayne Henderson of the Jazz Crusaders George Benson, Bette Midler, Al Jarreau, Bette Midler Phyllis Hyman and Anita Bake musical director. He has received an Emmy nomination for his musical direction on her HBO Special, “Diva Las Vegas” in 1997. This week we welcome to the Groove Studio's classic legend Shirley Jones of the legendary Jones girls trio female singing group. She best known as the lead vocalist for many of the popular hits late 1970's and early 80's on the Gamble and Huff Philadelphia International Label. After the singing group went into hiatus she started her solo career which debut her 1986 classic "Do you get enough love" was number one on the R&B billboards charts for weeks. Shirley also toured with The O’Jays. and in 2015 she debut a new album Time To Shine which contains a duet with the late Mel Waiters and a remake of I’m At Your Mercy, a Jones Girls classic. One of the highest-profile background singers of her generation, she got her start in the early 2000s, and in the next decade established a solo career with the soundtrack to Lee's Red Hook Summer (2012). Since making these strides, she has built a discography of increasingly refined and creative albums that includes the Prince-produced Back in Time (2015), followed by Golden Child (2018) while continuing her work in support of other artists.
Hill starred in the Academy Award- and Grammy-winning 20 Feet from Stardom, the documentary film showcasing the under-acknowledged work of backup singers. Tonight we will take you on musical journey as we share her latest release Baby, I'm Hollywood!

Monday May 17th we welcome to the Groove studio Ms. Patrice Rushen. She is an award-winning musician and composer who is also one of the most sought after artists in the music industry. She is a classically trained pianist who originally found success in the 70’s and 80’s with her signature fusion of jazz, pop and R&B. During this era, she composed and recorded the hit song, “Forget Me Nots,” which has been frequently covered and sampled by other artists. Rushen is also a four-time, Grammy nominee who has composed scores for movies and television.

Early in her career she was the lead voice behind the group Incognito which led to work with many legendary artist as Stevie Wonder, Phil Perry, Gerald Veasley, Rick Braun, Will Downing, Kim Waters, Jason Miles' Soul Summit, Rhythm Logic, Jonathan Butler and Pieces of Dream. Since she has released over 9 solo albums. Her voice takes hold of a song and enraptures her audience in the palm of her hands, as she delivers lyrics, phrases, melodies and harmonies in a way that only she can.
