We not only need to be forgiven by God, and others, as individuals we need to forgive others too, unconditionally. Yet, the Church needs to not allow sins to go unaddressed (forgiven), and must not forgive the seriously unrepentant (e.g. abusers). Forgiveness also demonstrates the reality of the gospel to others.
