For lucky number 13 of We Own the Dark, Jason and Jerry enjoy a seemingly random but no less gorgeously dark double feature pairing. Jason introduces us to the breathtaking visual hysteria of Willard Huyck and Gloria Katz's Messiah of Evil (1973). We then move to a meditative, slow burn, isolation horror with Jennifer Sheridan's 2020 debut feature Rose: A Love Story.

It's a new year and We Own the Dark is covering a new pair of films that are about as dark and bleak as January has felt!! Come with Jason and Jerry as they tackle two films filled with deviant obsessions and twisted desires.

For Episode 09, Jerry chose the hauntingly meditative and brooding Red Rooms (2024) from writer director Pascal Plante. As always, Jason found the perfect pairing with Eckhart Schmidt's 1982 German sensation Der Fan (The Fan).

We Own the Dark Episode 06 finds the horror in the surreal!! Jerry's choice for this month's discussion is Johnannes Nyholm's 2019 Swedish-Danish time and mind-bending Koko-di Koko-da. Jason pairs this emotionally charged and highly bizarre horror fantasy with an absolutely stunning classic, an obvious inspiration for so many of our contemporary surrealist filmmakers, Ingmar Bergman's 1968 psychological horror Hour of the Wolf.
