We're back after a brief hiatus and diving right back into the darkness with Jerry's choice, Strange Harvest (2024) from director Stuart Oritz. A "mock-doc" with fantastic visuals and a compelling cosmic horror storyline, Strange Harvest is a little-known gem that wants to be seen! From there, Jason introduced one of the many films heavily influenced by Seven in the 90s, the wildly entertaining and downright wild Resurrection (1999).

Join us this month for generational trauma and wildly unhinged hallucinations! We Own the Dark dives headfirst into two films that are heartbreaking and brutal but definitely elicits that ol' "good for her" feeling. Jason chose first with Matt Cimber's The Witch Who Came From the Sea (1976) to which Jerry paired Mike Flanagan's Gerald's Game (2017). These two films tell unique and rich stories of the desperation and often bleak nature of survival.

We Own the Dark rings in the new year with Deep in the Heart (1983), a captivating and timely rape-revenge film that examines America's obsession with guns. Topical, we know!

We welcome our very first pod guest Erica Shultz, co-host of the Unsung Horrors podcast and the author of The Sweetest Taboo: An Unapologetic Guide to Child Kills in Film. We Own the Dark is back with a bloody new episode! This time we're engaging in a rousing discussion about political satire and Hollywood criticism. Jerry's choice of the French dark horror/comedy from director Jean-Christophe Meurisse, Bloody Oranges (2021), is paired perfectly by Jason with John Schlesinger's 1975 adaptation of Nathanael West's seminal novel, The Day of the Locust.

It's a new year and We Own the Dark is covering a new pair of films that are about as dark and bleak as January has felt!! Come with Jason and Jerry as they tackle two films filled with deviant obsessions and twisted desires.

For Episode 09, Jerry chose the hauntingly meditative and brooding Red Rooms (2024) from writer director Pascal Plante. As always, Jason found the perfect pairing with Eckhart Schmidt's 1982 German sensation Der Fan (The Fan).
