We watched the special edition (extended version) of the 1989 James Cameron movie “The Abyss” (the special edition DVD was made in 1993). The special edition is a half hour longer than the theatrical version, so you might want to plan for an intermission.

This movie is rated PG-13, but it has a LOT of swearing.

The breathing fluid is a real thing but not the way it was used in the movie.

We watched “Nanny McPhee” on DVD. (Hey that rhymes!)

The movie “Nanny McPhee” was released in 2006 (in the U.S.) and was based on the Nurse Matilda books by Christianna Brand. The original Nurse Matilda book was published in 1964, the same year as the “Mary Poppins” movie! “Nanny McPhee” was set in Victorian England in the 1880s; “Mary Poppins” was set in 1910.
