As a child, Wayne Smith led a mostly normal, Jewish life with his parents and younger brother on the South Side of Chicago.
He didn't know what fate lingered to snatch his sight. As his vision dimmed from a rare retinal disease, so did his idea of a loving and powerful God who was capable of caring for him and his life path. He lost all hope and preferred to end his own life.
Yet, the very physical challenge that the "disabled" him unveiled the greatest spiritual truth to his spirit.
