To keep the silence in place is to keep the shackles in place.- Tonya GJ Prince
This recording is about Black males and abuse. It's about the power of Black males to speak to the pain of other Black males dealing with the pain of abuse and violence.
About Black males who have been sexually abused...
Black males who have been physically abused by a parent or caretaker....
Black males who have witnessed physical violence in the home....
Black males carrying have memories of being tossed across rooms when they tried to intervene as children.....
Black males carrying the pain of being unable to prevent the death of a woman they loved. A mother, a mother of their child, a sister, a friend.
It is unwise to ignore this pain.
It is destructive to ignore this pain
To keep the silence in place is to keep the shackles in place.
WE Survive Abuse encourages Black males to use the mighty power of their voices to speak about the pain, injustice, and healing of abuse and violence.

Asking critical questions out loud,
"Are individuals in society minimizing the impact of racism on others?
No matter how they got that way, are we underestimating how truly disturbed racist persons are the same way society underestimates other abusive members of society?"

*Trigger Warning* (nongraphic discussion of child abuse)
"If we women and girls were better protected, there would be no ugliness to speak of."
Women & girls who speak about the violence and abuse that they experienced are often accused of being "vile" even hateful. This is wrong and unacceptable.
Women and girls are only telling true stories about violence inflicted upon them. If we women and girls were better protected, there would be no ugliness to speak of.
Tonya GJ Prince tells a short story about how language is important to Survivors of sexual violence. She talks about how a television movie finally gave her language to break the silence around years of child abuse.

In the midst of all of this, women's safety and health is being discussed but women who wish to weigh in on their needs and concerns are being fired, shunned, disregarded, and labeled. Same obstacle, different day. Let women have their say.
Tonya GJ Prince talks about the familiarity of people who use this silencing tactic with people who accuse Black people of using "the race card" what i
No one is owed justice, equity, equality nor reparations by way of romantic attention or sex from girls/women.
The boundary lines that you surrender in favor of being ‘accommodating’ are not always easily recoverable. -Tonya GJ Prince
