What a career Joey Sykes has had.

Joey is a songwriter/guitarist/singer who's career has lasted more than three decades. Since 2013 he's played with The Baby's, whose songs Isn't It Time and Every Time I Think of You remain radio staples. In the 80's Joey played with Boystown, and he was with Coward in the 90's. Joey has also played lead guitar for Meredith Brooks, whose hit song Bitch led to Joey taking part in major music events and television appearances.  Joey Sykes composed songs have also been played on television and in motion picture. You can check out those works in Daddy Day Care, Ghost Whisperer and Gossip Girl among others. And In addition to his current gig with The Baby's, Joey Sykes has a country band with a rock infused sound called Honey River.

Joey has recently released a song called Let's Get Through This, an uplifting song made as a message to the world during the Coronavirus outbreak. He tells us about the song's conception and music video. Joey Sykes also goes over how to get songs placed in Hollywood and playing Madison Square Gardens. Check it out.

Axel Rudi Pell has back on the we talk music podcast for his second shot as he tells us about his new album Sign of the Times.

Maik from Heaven Shall Burn joins the We Talk Music podcast for something just a little bit different than the usual show.

Heaven shall burn is one of Germany's most successful extreme metal bands. Previous albums from the band have been feature deathcore, metalcore, and melodic death metal. Their latest album, is titled Of Truth and Sacrifice. On it, they mix all their other influences with those previous sounds. This adds traditional heavy metal, hard rock, nu-metal, power metal. and many more into the mix.

This episode features lots of talk on this latest Heaven Shall burn album. We discuss it’s songs, recording and composition. But the Crux of this interview goes in a whole other direction that is truly fascinating.

Heaven shall burn is one of the most politically charged bands in the world. On the show we delve deep into Maik's political history and where it began. This leads to a strong discussion on his life in East Germany. As a a teenager when the Berlin Wall came down in he discusses it's effect on himself and others on that side of the wall. It's amazing to hear him discuss one of the most important historical events of the 20th Century, and the after effects.

We had such a good time recording our latest podcast with Sandy Horne from the Spoons. That's why we're looking forward to sharing this interview with you all so much. There's a ton of great stuff about the band and the latest album, New Day New World, and the striking video they've released for Landing Lights.

A seminal  Canadian new wave/synth-pop group, Spoons had an impressive list of hits Including Nova Heart, Romantic Traffic, Old Emotions and Tell No Lies. In 2019 they released New Day New World, proving  the band’s musical chops are strong as ever.

Sandy Horne gives us the update on the album's creation, and some interesting insight into the songs on the record. It leads to a fascinating talk on how she is spending her time during Covid-19, looking back at the hours and hours of uncompleted music in her archives. 

The new video Landing Lights it's also a major topic on the show, as it has a strong message of thanks to those in the front lines fighting against the Coronavirus pandemic.  This is an extremely personal message for Sandy and other members of the band, and she explains to us why.

We also  share some laughs, as Sandy regales us with some great stories of life on the road and people hearing the lyrics of their songs incorrectly. It's some of the funniest stories ever told on the We Talk Music podcast. And of course we ask the question on everyone's mind about her 80's hairstyle!

Bonfire has a new album out called Fistful of Fire and that seemed like a perfectly good reason to bring Ronnie Parkes back on the We Talk Music podcast.

Honestly, just about any reason to bring Ronnie back on the show it's good enough for us.  As proven in Ronnie's previous appearance promoting 2018's Temple of Lies, he's an exceptionally easy person to talk to. Any conversation with him just feels like catching up with an old friend, because that's his personality. It helps of course that he brings such candor to the interview, and that he's had so many fascinating experiences in his life.

So we get the update from Ronnie parks on how Covid-19 has affected him and the rest of his band including his now delayed move to Ireland. Then we move into the new album Fistful  of Fire, Including an explanation of most of the songs meanings as explained by the Bands bassist / lyricist. 

Ronnie Parkes also gives us the inside scoop on how things didn't go as planned during the bonfire and Friends tour, and explains exactly how he got given the role of lyricist in the first place from band leader Hans Ziller. We also talk about Han’s search for the ever elusive perfect Bonfire album, and why Fistful of Fire may be it.

If you're looking for some solid entertainment we can't recommend enough checking out the latest We Talk Music podcast with Thom Hazaert. And it's a good thing he's so entertaining too, since he'll be helping to host the Oh Say Can You Stream fundraising event on April 11th.

There might just not be a single part of the music industry that Tom Hazaert hasn't touched. He's been a musician, record executive, journalist & more. This means he's made a lot of great contacts in the industry. Now he's using that history, along with his association with the David Ellefson Youth Music Foundation, to give back to the community.

That's the impetus for the Oh Say Can You Stream. Money raised from the night will go towards the School's Out initiative. It's a project providing instruments and lessons from celebrity entertainers to children in isolation during Covid-19.

All the details of how Oh Say Can You Stream came together, who's involved, and the relationship between Megadeth bassist David Ellefson and Thom Hazaert can be found on the episode. Thom also covers the decision for Ellefson to release the single "Simple Truth" early, with proceeds from the song going to the Italian Red Cross.

Plus,since both are fans of the genre, WTM host Mo and Thom take a little time to discuss the Wes Craven film Shocker. A horror cult classic, Thom produced a documentary on the film's heavy metal soundtrack for it's Shout Factory Blu-ray release . This sets up a small discussion between that metal soundtrack on Shocker and that of another 80s horror cult classic, Trick or Treat.

Mitch Perry has seemingly played with everyone.

Beginning his career in the early 80's, Mitch has been a part of numerous projects over the years. He has played with such bands as Keel, Heaven, Steeler, Faster Pussycat and Aerosmith. To drive home even deeper his legacy, individuals he's played with are those such as Glen Hughes, Michael Schenker, Lita Ford, Cher, Billy Sheehan and most notably Edgar Winter. Currently he is the lead guitarist for the American version of The Sweet.

With such as resume, it's no surprise that Mitch Perry has been able to assemble a superstar lineup of musicians to play with him on the upcoming album "Music Box". These are some of the most accomplished and respected industry professionals to be found anywhere.

In this extensive interview Mitch Perry tells us all about the band and their classic rock style. He also goes into the reason he's so proud of the single "Believe". It's a great song you should definitely check out.

On April 11th the David Ellefson Youth Music Foundation, in conjunction with the GRAMMY Music Education Coalition and their live channel, will host a live streaming event of featuring all star musicians. We urge you to check out why the event, also available on YouTube and Facebook. And as a primer we have an hour with Megadeth bassist and co-founder David Ellefson. It's sure to give you all the details on the show while discussing many other topics as well.

The interview weaves in and out, talking equally about the event and David Ellefson's fascinating life and career. David may just be the most well spoken guest in We Talk Music history. He's clearly very passionate about the SCHOOL'S OUT initiative, as evidenced by the upcoming show. But his philanthropic nature extends far beyond just this one evening.

The SCHOOL'S OUT initiative from the David Ellefson Youth Music Foundation provides instruments and celebrity lessons to children during Covid-19.

In addition, an acoustic show by David Ellefson and his solo band will play on the 10th and 11th of April. Proceeds from those shows, as well as those from the new single "Simple Truth", will go to the Italian Red Cross, as they continue their efforts during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
