  • Swacch Medical Admissions: Will 'NEET' Break Netas-Colleges Nexus?
Supreme Court has directed a single entrance exam for admissions to medical colleges across the country -- both government and private. Many private medical colleges are owned by politicians. Is that why the single exam is being opposed? Is a single exam the only way to ensure quality doctors. Clean up or shock therapy?

  • Malegaon Mysteries: 'Saffron' Terror Twist Or Convenient Politics?
With the discharge of 8 Muslim men due to lack of evidence against them 10 years after they were arrested for their involvement in Malegaon blasts in 2006, we debate the new twists in these 'saffron' terror tales. Will we ever find out the truth behind these attacks or will BJP-Congress politics suppress the truth?

  • Didi Vs Rest: Left-Hand Drive, Speed Breaker For Mamata?
Bengal Assembly elections appeared to be a cakewalk for Mamata Banerjee, but the coming together of the Left and the Congress seems to have thrown up a formidable challenge to the Mamata juggernaut. • Beef And Liquor Bans: State Overreach, Selective Outrage?
As Nitish Kumar implements prohibition in Bihar and states like Tamil Nadu maybe next to do the same, we debate whether this ban is appropriate or intrusive and whether it curtails people's freedom of choice. As far as bans go, why has there been a selective outrage over banning alcohol unlike the beef ban which registered much protest. Also, considering that states justify the ban in the name of women's rights we debate: Prohibition is the answer to patriarchy & violence at home?

  • Does Education Make For Better Politicians?
Haryana government's decision to make education must for panchayat candidates has been upheld by the Supreme Court. The law mandates that minimum educational qualification to stand for panchayat polls is class 10 pass for men, class 8 pass for women & Dalit men and class 5 pass for Dalit women. As a result, over 50 per cent of women can't stand up for panchayat elections. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dared the Congress, protesting this rule, to give 30 per cent tickets to illiterate candidates in the upcoming polls. On We The People, we debate: Should politicians running for office have a mandatory and minimum educational qualification? Is Haryana panchayat law discriminatory or does education make for better politicians? If candidates for local elections must have educational cutoffs, why not start with Parliament?

  • Fauj Vs Babus: Why 7th Pay Commission Has The Military Up In Arms
While netas play politics over patriotism, soldiers are fighting for pay parity. The seventh pay commission says Indian Police Service and Indian Forest Service will be at par with the IAS, leaving the military behind. On We The People, we debate the pay panel's recommendations. Why this pay divide? Will politicians who are playing patriotic games put their money where their mouth is? In crises like the recent Jat agitation, the Army is often replacing civil administration, but is not being paid as much. Why is this so? Should Armed Forces have a separate pay commission?

  • Jat Agitation: India's 'Backward March' Into Quota Politics?
In this episode, we look at the agitation by the socially and politically influential Jat community in Haryana which has taken a violent turn and discuss the burning question of caste-based reservation in this country. As the mobs go on rampage in Haryana and political leaders' houses are set on fire, we debate whether this demand for an Other Backward Class or OBC quota by Jats is justified and whether any country should make policies on the basis of violent blackmail.
