  • Weekly Buckshot: Why CRYPTO Does Not Break My Investing Rules
Everyone is on my case about why I’m so excited about blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Even my wife is giving me a hard time! “What happened to real assets?” she asks with a smile. Nothing happened to real assets. My investment philosophy has NOT, in fact, changed. You see, I don’t see my cryptocurrency trading as “investing” in the first place. Let’s go back to basics. I’ve always maintained that the key to growing financial wealth is in the following mathematical equation: Wealth= leverage(MassXVelocity) Leverage is using good debt—other people’s money or, in the case of Wealth Formula Banking, investing your money in two places at the same time. Velocity is simply reinvesting your returns as soon as possible (aka the magic of compounding interest). Mass is how much money you actually invest. The cruel reality is that if you don’t have mass, the leverage and velocity can only take you so far. Most financial bloggers and podcasters seem to ignore this issue. If you’ve got no money to start with, you don’t have an investing problem that real estate can solve. You have a MONEY problem. Now as high paid professionals like most of you, you are in a great position. You already have money to invest. Use the rest of the equation and your money will grow at the pace needed to get you financial independence sooner than you would via conventional financial means (ie. Mutual funds). So where am I going with this? I’m not “investing” in cryptocurrency. I’m seeing an opportunity to create SIGNFICANT amounts of mass. What will I do with the mass if everything works out? I will “invest it” in real assets. I don’t deny that the crypto market is speculative. It is. But one of the advantages that wealthy people have is that they can take a few of these shots down the field once in a while. This kind of speculation is referred to as asymmetric trading. The upside is HUGE and the downside is manageable. If you know what you are doing and you won’t lose your shirt if you lose all your money, I won’t dissuade you from potentially making life changing amounts of money. Let’s take my example. I started investing in cryptocurrency in September, 8th—my 44th birthday. I started out with 50K then added another 50K a month later. Yes—I put $100K into something highly speculative. But then again, I could have bought a Maserati and guarantee I would never see that money again. No—I decided to keep driving my 2008 Toyota Prius that I bought right after residency (gas was $5/gallon is SF!). I’m in the car for a total of 20 minutes per day. What do I care? So what happened? Well—I had the fortune of knowing some “insiders” in the crypto world and have since even bought some tools with AI technology to help me. The result?... a seven figure crypto portfolio—1000% return in 4 months. In a year or so, I’ll probably cash out and INVEST in some real estate. Now listen, I AM NOT telling you to go out and buy cryptocurrency. Don’t do anything with which you are not comfortable. On the other hand, don’t be hesitant to look into things that could potentially generate life changing “mass” that you can add to the equation. Skip that doodad for a year and look for something that could blow up. I guarantee that will be more fun than driving around in a fancy car for twenty minutes a day. So there you go—my investment principles have not changed! Now can someone explain that to my wife? Buck P.S. If you make six figures per year and have not checked out the Velocity Plus, make sure to check it out: wealthformulabanking.com. If you don’t want to speculate--I get it. But there is no reason not to amplify your money quickly and with NO DOWNSIDE.

  • 090: Podcasting for Fun and PROFIT!
Why the heck did I start a podcast anyway? A lot of people ask me that. Well, it went something like this. I used to listen to podcasts all the time—most of them real estate related. But after a while, I realized a few things. First of all, even if I liked a particular podcast, a good chunk of the shows really didn’t relate to me at all. For example, the shows about making a few thousand dollars flipping houses or wholesaling really were not part of my world. I was, after all, “a highly educated physician” and successful entrepreneur who had some money already. I didn’t need to “escape from a cubicle”. I just wanted to make more money and invest outside of Wall Street. There was NO ONE SHOW that spoke to me. On the other hand, I got so interested in investing topics that I couldn’t keep my own mouth shut. My wife would take me to a party and I’d be pretty much bored out of my mind unless the conversation turned to either NFL football or the economy. Once in a while, I would find a kindred spirit and nerd out talking about investing or how to save on taxes. Over time, I realized that I had learned so much reading books and listening to podcasts that some people actually even ENJOYED listening to me and wanted to know more! Then it occurred to me—maybe I should start my own podcast. So I did. The problem was that for the first several shows, no one listened to me and life got busy so I stopped for a year or two. Anyway, about 18 months ago I decided that I was going to go all in on it so that, at the very least, I could record my own thoughts. Then a funny thing happened. People started listening. I started getting guests—some of them were even people who weren’t friends doing me a favor. Before you know it, I got invited on other people’s podcasts! Today, I’ve had up to 30K downloads in a single month. I even interviewed Robert Kiyosaki! It’s really been sort of a crazy ride! Now here’s the thing—when I started, I didn’t really even think about making money from the podcast. It was just sort of a hobby. But then monetization became pretty easy. Businesses wanted to sponsor my show and, since I love investing, I started investor club and began my own funds. It has all been incredibly organic and, from the standpoint of the podcast itself, still doesn’t really feel like work. Sounds sort of nice doesn’t it? Talk about your passions and make some money doing it? That’s basically what I’m doing and I’m 100 percent convinced that this is something that you should consider doing as well! Maybe you are a doctor but, unlike me, actually ENJOY talking about medicine. There are TONS of people who would love to hear you talk. You don’t have to ramble on at parties to people who don’t want to listen to you. You can literally talk about ANYTHING that interests you because there are others in the world, even if they don’t live near you, that share your passions. Podcasts allow you to find those people, find your tribe. And here’s the thing. It’s technically very easy to do and you might even make some money doing it. I’m hoping to inspire you to podcast so I got my friend Paul Colligan on the show to talk about this relatively new medium. Paul has taught thousands of people to podcast and is a master at not only the technical part but also on marketing and monetization. If you think you have something worth sharing with the rest of the world, make sure to tune into this week’s show!   [00:40] Introduction [02:16] Why I do what I do [13:10} Buck introduces Paul Colligan [14:18] How did Paul get into podcast [20:26] The growth of podcast (www.edisonresearch.com/infinite-dial-2017) [27:12] Paul’s definition of podcasting [32:03] What makes a podcast interesting and successful? • Weekly Buckshot : How to Invest in Something About Which You Know Nothing
Discover more financial secrets at wealthformula.com Imagine investing in Budweiser or Coors at the end of Prohibition. For that matter--imagine getting in on anything related to alcohol on the ground floor in 1933. A lot of people made a lot of money--Joseph P. Kennedy for example. Kennedy massively amplified his wealth from commodities trading by acquiring distribution rights for Scotch Whisky after prohibition. The result--generational wealth for the Kennedy family. The end of another prohibition is upon us now. Cannabis is legal in several states including California. I know there is resistance from the Trump administration on this and that Jeff Sessions is not turning a blind eye like the Obama administration. But there is no stopping this thing now. As the French say, the eventual full legalization recreational marijuana use in the United States is a fait accompli. There is no turning back. Now listen, I am making no moral judgment on pot. I'm not a pot guy myself and I don't like the smell. Furthermore, potheads and people walking around with cannabis patches on their backpacks annoy me. But... I do recognize a a movement that will become part of our new reality--sort of like distributed ledger technology (cryptocurrency). There will be huge profits made and some serious pothead billionaires. So when you see a movement like this, what do you do? How do you get involved? Well, in the case of distributed ledger technology, I knew some people who I know like and trust that made my crypto hobby very profitable. But I don't know very many people in the cannabis industry and like even fewer. The ones I know and like, I don't really trust. That's the challenge with any kind of investment frankly. Listen, even in multifamily real estate--the mother of all no-brainer assets, you either need to know what you are doing or invest with someone who does. So where do you start? Well, if you are reading this, you are already trying to educate yourself so you got that part down. Always start with doing your own research and learning as much as you can. The next step is to build your tribe--the people who you know like and trust. That's when the real magic starts. For example, a friend of mine who is very smart with cryptocurrencies tipped me off to a recent initial coin offering in the crypto market. I learned everything I could about the asset and the business model. I understood it, it made sense and I had the stamp of approval of a seasoned investor in this arena. I invested 50K which skyrocketed in 3 months--at one point is was worth about $4 million. It came back to earth after that but still resulted in a 10X profit for me. You don't have to be really smart. You just need to be around the people who are and ride their coat-tails. Final education plus the right tribe= Wealth. That's been my wealth formula and it has worked well so far. Hopefully it will work for you as well. Buck P.S.
