Duke is a badass in this chapter. We meet Kynes and find out his secret. Paul and Gurney tag along.

It's action planning time! How much money can you actually make on Arrakis? How do we mine the spice? We meet Duncan Idaho. We meet Stilgar, chief of Fremen. Duke leto gets a terrible note of betrayal. Duke Leto needs rest.

An assassination attempt! We see how Paul's training benefits him. We get an understanding of Arrakis before Arrakis. We learn who Lady Fenring and her relationship with Lady Jessica. Duke Leto has to hide his feelings to take be a good leader.

We learn about the relationship between Lady Jessica and Duke Leto. We get insight on Dr. Yueh's guilt. And we meet our first Fremen.

In this episode, we are introduced to two new characters: the betrayer, Dr. Yueh Wellington, and Paul's father, Duke Leto Atreides. We find out that House Atreides is well prepared for House Harkonnen's attacks but may not be aware that they have a traitor amongst their most trusted. We also learn that Paul may be even more special than we've realized. 

We see a more playful side of Paul Atreides. We talk about Thufir Hawat the old Mentat Master of Assassins, who struck fear even into the heart of the Padishah Emperor. We talk about Gurney Halleck, the troubadour-warrior and we finally get to see some sword action!

In this episode we review our reading of Dune Chapter 2. We meet House Harkonnen and are now aware of the terrible plans within plans within plans to destroy House Atreides.
