'As surely as the LORD lives' is a solemn oath used by God several times in the Bible. God swears by Himself to fulfill a promise or judgment to His people. The Israelites also began using 'as surely as the LORD lives,' to fulfill their vows are and pledges. God is eternal and His Word is also eternal. Ezekiel 33:11 says, "Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their evil ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?'

Satan's plot was to deceive Adam and Eve and have them lose their birthright to live in a beautiful paradise on earth, with God forever. However, God had a plan to redeem His creation from sin and destruction. In Genesis 3:15, God foretold that the offspring of the woman would crush satan's head and reverse the curse. At the appointed time, Jesus came to the earth to redeem us from the law of sin and death. The devil had a plot, but God had a plan and His plan never fails. God has a plan for us to overcome our trials as well. Isaiah 46:9b-10 says, "....I am God, and there is no other. I am God, there is none like me. King David certainly experienced many troubles and afflictions. David was chosen by God to replace Saul as King of Israel. God had rejected Saul and had Samuel anoint David as King to replace him. However, Saul still kept the title and the throne, while he was not the rightful king of Israel. He became envious of David and was filled with envy, pride and hatred. Saul knew that God had rejected him and God's Spirit had departed from him. Instead of humbling himself before God, he spent the remaining years of his life pursuing King David. Saul wanted to kill him. However, God protected David from murderous Saul. David wrote in Psalm 34:19, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all," (NKJV).

God promised to take His chosen people, the Jews, out of the nations and gather them back to the land of Israel. The Israel-Gaza war has caused protests across the world. Many people have never heard the Biblical story of the covenant which God made with Abraham and his descendants. Before Abraham's first wife died, he had two sons, Ishmael and Isaac. However, only one of his sons was the promised child whom God chose to make a covenant with. God blessed both of Abraham's sons. However, Isaac was the promised child whom God would use to bring forth the Messiah, Jesus Christ-the Anointed so that all the world could be blessed. "But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, who Sarah will bear to you by this time next year," Genesis 17:21.

The recent gruesome, terrorist attacks in Israel and the resulting war in the region have released great alarm and fear worldwide. The war has casused antisemitism to increase exponentially all over the world. In America, the Jewish population is 2.7%. However, out of all the hate crimes being committed, Jewish antisemitism is at 60%. As God's people, let us pray for all men including our Jewish family. As we see the birth pangs increasing, Jesus reminds us not to fear. He tells us that we are safe in His hands. John 10:28 says, "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand."

In Exodus 20:1-4, God introduced Himself to His chosen people. God told them that they should have no other gods before Him because He is a jealous God, punishing the disobedient. At the appointed time, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ born of the virgin Mary. Jesus Christ laid down his life as a sacrifice on the cross so that He could redeem us from the curse of sin and death. Today God is calling everyone to receive His Son, Jesus Christ as his or her Lord and Savior, so that they can receive everlasting life. 1 Timothy 2:5-6 says, "For there is one god and one mediator between God and human beings, Christ Jesus, himself human, who gave himself as a ransom for all people," (NIV).

In 2 Kings 6, the king of Aram was at war with the northern kingdom, Israel. The king would make plans to ambush the king of Israel, but each time, Elisha would warn the king of his enemy's plans. The king of Aram realized that the king of Israel was receiving military intelligence, so he called up all of his military advisors to find out which one of them was being a traitor. He was told that Elisha, the prophet was the one telling all his secrets. So he ordered his army to capture Elisha. Elisha prayed and asked God to blind the army and led them into the hads of the king of Israel. If God is for us, who can stand against us, (Romans 8:31).

In Matthew 8, a sudden violent storm appeared out of nowhere. The storm was so severe that the disciples' lives were at risk. Jesus was sleeping, so the disciples woke him up and asked Him to save them. Jesus said to them, "Why are you afraid; you men of little faith?" Then Jesus rebuked the storm and at once there was great peace. Sometimes a sudden storm appears out of nowhere that catches us unawares. However, Jesus is in the boat of life with us and He is the solid Rock upon which we stand.
