Good morning, weather watchers! This is your friendly neighborhood meteorologist coming in hot (or should I say, cold) with the latest forecast for the Carter Lake area in Iowa.
Bundle up, folks, because we're diving into a deep freeze! Tonight, expect a mostly cloudy sky with temperatures plummeting to a chilly 16 degrees Fahrenheit. Those north northwest winds will be whispering around 6 miles per hour, so keep that winter gear close.
Friday brings more of the same gray skies, with temperatures barely climbing to a high of 25 degrees Fahrenheit. The north northwest wind will continue to dance around 5 to 7 miles per hour, keeping things crisp and cool.
Now, things get interesting this weekend. Saturday has a slight chance of snow and maybe even some freezing rain. Temperatures will hover around 21 degrees Fahrenheit, with east winds gusting up to 17 miles per hour. Saturday night is when winter really shows up - we're looking at an 80 percent chance of snowfall and temperatures dropping to a bone-chilling 12 degrees Fahrenheit.
Sunday continues the winter wonderland theme, with snow likely before noon and temperatures struggling to reach 16 degrees Fahrenheit. Those north winds will be howling up to 25 miles per hour.
The cold snap continues into Monday and Tuesday, with mostly sunny days but temperatures barely kissing the teens. By Wednesday, we might see a slight warmup, pushing towards 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
Heads up winter warriors: This forecast is not for the faint of heart. Layer up, stay warm, and check those road conditions before heading out.
