A COOL FRONT MOVING THROUGH THE OHIO VALLEY WILL CAUSE SHOWERS AND A THUNDERSTORM TODAY INTO TONIGHT. IT CLEARS THE COAST WEDNESDAY, AND A NICE REGION OF HIGH PRESSURE SETTLES IN FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK WITH GREAT WEATHER STARTING WEDNESDAY AND RIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY. AFTER THAT..WE LOSE THE HIGH..AND SOUTHERN MOISTURE MAKES ANOTHER ADVANCE JUST IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND.

    WEATHER TRIVIA:

    1980 – TEMPERATURE SOARS TO 106 AT WILLISON, S.DAKOTA

    SHORT VERSION:

    Weekend Has Tropical Connections….

Showers moving into Northeast today and tonight….not a big deal. Tropical moisture stream north thru Florida and Southeast. Can already see the makings of a disturbance south of Cuba. No matter where that goes..the stream of moisture will head north to affect the East this holiday weekend. Below – today’s threat of severe weather in dark green.

Below – hurricane center’s outlook….which we agree with based on satellite pictures…and computer models.

Below- different models take on tropical disturbance in Gulf. Most saying Saturday…GFS – Sunday. However…look at moisture streaming well north of the system.

THE RING OF FIRE…..A NAME WE GIVE TO THE CURRENT WEATHER PATTERN. A LARGE HIGH OVER BERMUDA CONTINUES TO SIT. THE WIND FLOW AROUND THIS HIGH AND CLOCKWISE, PICKING MOISTURE UP OVER THE ATLANTIC, THEN ACROSS THE GULF OF MEXICO – AND THEN IT SWEEPS UP THE EASTERN SEABOARD. NO REAL BREAK SEEN INTO NEXT WEEK…SO CLOUDS AND WETNESS DOMINATE. PICK FOR THE HEAVIEST RAIN – FRIDAY – SATURDAY.  ANY SUN ? MAYBE.

There is a chance of thunderstorms today. Some of these storms
may be severe mainly between the hours of noon and 7 pm. The main
threats will be damaging wind and large hail. An isolated tornado is
    also possible.

    WEATHERCAST:

Our oscillating front will continue to play games with the forecast right through the week and into the weekend. If the front moves north ..it’s warm and humid with showers and thunderstorms. If it moves south…some rain and cool….and if it moves far enough south…dry weather with some sun. Don’t see us pulling out of this until next week…we hope. So lots of ups and downs until further notice.

Very warm and humid to the south of boundary…cool and damp to north. This front will plague the Nation all of next week and the weather will be quite changeable and unsettled to stormy. Below – outlooks for severe weather today and Saturday. Notice on Saturday how the threat of severe weather extends west to east – yellow.

Below – animated maps through the weekend followed by rainfall for the next 7 days.
