In last week’s shiur we met Dovid for the first time, but we didn’t get to know him much more than his physical description. Tonight we learn the famous story of his fight with Goliat and his passion for Gd and His honor. This story will not only be an introduction to getting to know Dovid but will literally be the paradigm of who he is and what drives him in so many scenes through the sefer.

After seeing the mistakes Shaul made as king we can now have a better understanding of what Hashem is looking for in the next one. In tonight’s shiur we will see the choosing of Dovid and what Hashem highlights about him in the pshat. We will then get to see Shaul meet him for the first time and how their relationship begins to develop.
