Wednesday Night Fake Fights

We follow up a very sad week off with a historic Dynamite as AEW debuts in Paris, France with Grand Slam Dynamite. Which means the historic first of which of us will attempt to mangle the French language first on the pod. Just kidding, Hampter's French is lovely. Anyway, there was some high quality wrestling this week because Grand Slams always deliver. Will Ospreay defended the Men's World Title against Kazuchika Okada, a man he has notoriously had a hard time beating. In a "Can't Believe This is Happening" match, Kofi challenged for the ROH Men's World Title against Bandido as the feud between their respective teams hit a... new level (sorry). Queen Aminata challenged Mercedes Mone for the Women's World Title in the city she grew up in, while David & Doyle looked to take down The Death Riders and Jack Perry got his crack at Samoa Joe. All this plus Clockwork Carnage, Gabe Kidd's unique tattoo placement, we're completely done with Darby, hurricanes, and the terror of red pants.

I would call this a very cathartic episode that we needed after the emotional PAC tribute show, so come light the fuse with us this week.

Dynallision. Dynallision never changes. This week saw a three hour edition of everyone's favorite Wednesday night professional wrestling show and it was... fine? Dare we say good? Frankly, it's hard to say because we hit our traditional long show loopiness by the end of recording. But we digress. Anyway, the show. Dynallision, some things happened. The Demand challenged New Swerve Level for the Trios Titles. The participants of the three-way tag title ladder match had some promo time. Speedball joined a new team. Francesco Akira had more microaggressions thrown at him. Jon Moxley got in one last tune up against a high flyer as Desmond Xavier had a Continental Title Eliminator match. Hyan challenged Persephone! Skye Blue vs. Queen Aminata! And so much more! All this plus monster hunts, hot flashes, Danzig, and I don't even know what the heck else but there was a lot.

There's a fuse, we're gonna light it, and if you listen to this podcast that's your own fault.

RIP Pac.

It's another week and another Dynamite and they let the Only Italian Pro Wrestler say a swear on TV! Other than that, solid if uneventful Dynamite. Steven Stingerverse continues to roll along in tag matches, Tommy Chompers killed the greatest jobber alive, and Gabe Kidd is actually kind of a silly little guy. Elsewhere, Andrade shed at least one of his gimmicks, the Don Callis Family continues to have internal struggles, and we lament the state of the Women's Tag Team division even while Jamie Hayter and Lena Kross had a very fun little match. All this plus red devils, Hampter Bites, Erika's Wawa drink order, and absolutely zero bits. Just solid pro wrestling podcasting from the word go.

Light the fuse and see if you win a free hoagie.

What an amazing night at Fake Fights Studio. Erika is continuing her moving process so Hampter is back behind the wheel of the Cozy Coupe War Rig as AEW rolls into Athens Georgia to raise awareness and funds for ALS research on behalf of their very own Rebel Heart. It was also a somber night as AEW mourned their fallen brother Andy "The Butcher" Williams who sadly passed away in the ring. In spite of it all what a night of Graps. Mercedes brings the BDE. The Debut of El Hijo Del Stinger. And we all learn the importance of Stroke in the Industry from our VERY SPECIAL GUEST.

Living Legend of the Ring. Canadian Trans Hero. Silent "The PitTrans" Tart.

Light the Fuse, quickly before we get a DMCA strike for her intro music!

All In is now all done. There's almost entirely new champions across the board, new wrestlers debuted, and Dynamite was the place to hit the ground running on a new leg of stories in AEW. How did they do? Three challengers stepped up to take a swing at new Men's World Champion Will Ospreay and Thekla emerged to put Mercedes Mone on notice. Copeland and Cage laid out a challenge for All Out that might involve some furniture, and Swerve and the recently debuted New Level put their newly won Trios Titles on the line against The Rascalz. Elsewhere, The Only Italian Wrestler, Francesco Akira led the United Empire into battle against The Demand and The Dogs in a massive main event 10-man tag match. I guess Ospreay and Andrade were in it too. All this plus mystery jerky, big birds, and Hampter finally got to The Truth Commission in their Monday Night Wars rewatch.

Now to just light this fuse like normal and recline nicely in a comfy chair because nothing else will happen. What? Why are you all staring at the screen behind me? Aw, cripes...

We are still chugging along to All In and this is kind of the go home show for the go home show in Glasgow next time. Pretty exciting stuff happening in the city of Baltimore though. Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega have a face-to-face discussion to make sure we understand that they are wrestling eat other at Wembly and there are more reasons to care besides it will be pretty cool. Like New Japan attendance numbers from 2020-2021. Riveting! If that doesn't float your boat, we've got some wrestling too I guess. Do you like Jon Moxley vs. Jay White? We did! Do you like the United Empire's little Italian wrestler? Hampter does! Maya World defended the TBS Title in a four-way! Nigel McGuinness and Hechicero went at it! And Ospreay accidentally unlocks double secret hidden boss Kenny Omega. Wild.

There was so much dank in the arena this week, it was really fun but that fuse sure is hard to light now...

Spin the roulette, double down on 21, poker face, and other assorted gambling references! Dynamite is in Las Vegas this week and while we weren't completely blown away by everything, they managed a solid show with an excellent main event! Ospreay finds that having no friends sucks, Don Callis thinks the show is about him, MJF qualifies for the #2 spot in the Casino Gauntlet, and manages to give Nick Wayne some pointers in the process. Plus, Mercedes attacked Willow, Kevin Knight had to fend off a challenge from Chris Jericho, and the women's division had like a whole 30 minutes of the show of high quality. And then Jon Moxley and Whittlin' Jack turned in one of the best TV main events of the year. All this and also sky clams!

The Cozy Coupe is getting steam cleaned. Or was if you can't tell from the episode picture. Just light the dang fuse, dude.

AEW emanates from the Cathedral of Lucha Libre once again for Grand Slam Mexico! Last year was such a success they were bound to do it again, but this time they brought the build to All In! And what's a big show without a surprise guest? Erika is out this week, but tagged in Hamptercero to rev up the Fake Fights Cozy Coupe while Ella recruited Kat from Chatter Machine to be our Third Man (gender neutral) this week! AEW in Arena Mexico does not disappoint and they seemed intent on outdoing last year's show with big returns, bloody matches, and high stakes title matches! Also, your standard fare of wild digressions into topics that are maybe tangentially related to pro wrestling but not really.

Come on now and light that little ol' fuse for me, yeah?

Redemption is in the book and the latest episode of AEW Dynamite hit the pedal to the metal into the final stretch toward All In in London! And they really did manage to find an extra gear in front of a red hot Detroit crowd with a night of new champions, hot matches, and high stakes laid out. Andrade defended his newly won National Championship in a triple threat, Maya World put her TBS title on the line against, Persephone, Komander challenged a now Ospreay-less Jon Moxley, and the Conglomeration clashed with The Demand over the Trios Titles! Plus, we had two excellent segments setting up the now official Men's and Women's World Title matches at Wembly. Willow in particular made us all cry with the best promo segment of the year. Plus, all our usual nonsense digressions and the real stuff you all come here for!

Like the fuse and try to keep from tearing up!
