In this Wednesday night Bible study Sister Janet goes into detail about the relationship (friendship) that God had with Abraham. God knew Abraham to the point where when he was pondering his plans to deal with something, he was wondering if he should let Abraham in on his plans. God knew what Abraham would say, but he wanted to go down and ask him his opinion. If Abraham would have stood in the gap until they got down to one righteous that he would have spared the towns of Sodom and Gomorrah. If Abraham had taken the approach that Moses would have that these towns would have been saved for Abraham's sake.
