In chapter 25, we meet an ill-tempered guy named Nabal and his wife Abigail, David loses his temper, and Abigails wisdom wins out.
The book that is references (49:50), but not explicitly named is The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis. There are also spoilers for Lilith by George MacDonald, but the book was first published in 1895, so I suspect that this won't be considered egregious.
