Did God want Jacob to lie to his father and trick him into giving him his brother’s birthright? God does not want anyone to sin against Him or anyone else. He desires righteousness. But He is a God of redemption as much as He’s a God of justice. He had a plan for Jacob, and He could have carried it out without Jacob’s deception. As Pastor Ron will point out in today’s message, despite Jacob’s brokenness, God brought about His perfect will for him, though he still suffered the consequences of his actions.
