Des Moines voters have elected a woman as mayor for the first time. Connie Boesen will replace Frank Cownie, who is stepping down after 20 years in office. Voters in Cedar Rapids have rejected a $220 million dollar bond to improve and replace school facilities. And voters in Polk County have overwhelmingly approved a $350 million bond to fund construction of a new terminal at the Des Moines International Airport.
