Sometimes we’re guilty of a pride that looks a lot like humility. We need help desperately, but when people offer, we shrug it off – “No thanks, I’ve got this…” when in fact there’s no way we can handle the problem on our own. This is the same sort of foolish pride that Peter demonstrates in today’s passage. As Pastor Ron will point out, Jesus wanted to demonstrate His selfless, servant leadership and instead of embracing it, Peter’s initial response was to resist it and insist he should be washing Jesus’ feet.
